The North American Nintendo conference from yesterday had quite a few surprises, most notably that us westerners would be getting our hands on the new console before the Japanese for once. It’s got a solid looking line-up so far, such as the tried and trusted Super Mario Bros, and NintendoLand. More games are on the way for the device, from Assassin’s Creed 3 to Lego City: Undercover. Oh, and some little game called Bayonetta 2, which will be exclusive to that platform.
The sultry witch is indeed headed to Nintendo, with Platinum Games once again devoting time and resources to it. Atsushi Inaba, the man behind Okami, is producing, while Yusuke Hashimoto, producer on the first Bayonetta, is handling directing duties.
How on earth did this occur? Who knows, as Bayonetta 2 seemed like a fantasy title that would never be produced, much to the detriment of fans. Although we’re guessing that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata showed up at Platinum Games with a large sack of Yen, to persuade them otherwise.
There’s no word when exactly Bayonetta 2 will arrive, or what the new game will look like with the Wii U hardware and tablet controller, beyond the current teaser. Still, I’m kinda glad to see the game surviving, even if it has left hardcore fans fuming about the exclusivity agreement.
