Nostalgia’s a funny thing, really. It makes people do things or want things that they really shouldn’t. and right now, I REALLY, REALLY WANT THIS MINI NES.

Yes, Nintendo is making a mini Nintendo console stuffed with 30 classic games that will help you relive the memories of an age past. Yes, you could emulate these games or probably get many of them on the Virtual console, but this official mini NES just makes me want to hug things.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.”

The system comes packaged with an HDMI cable, an AC adapter and one NES Classic Controller. It’s coming to the US on November 11 at a price of $59.99 – and will hit Europe as well.

Here’s the list of 30 games loaded on the system:

  • Balloon Fight
  • BUBBLE BOBBLE
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE
  • Dr. Mario
  • Excitebike
  • FINAL FANTASY
  • Galaga
  • GHOSTS’N GOBLINS
  • GRADIUS
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • MEGA MAN 2
  • Metroid
  • NINJA GAIDEN
  • PAC-MAN
  • Punch-Out!!  Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • SUPER C
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros.  3
  • TECMO BOWL
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Simon’s Quest? Woah! Punch Out? Super Mario 3? SUPER C? HELL YES!

Excellent, but the games…well..if you don’t own at least 15 of these via the virtual console in the past 10 years then there’s something dreadfully wrong somewhere.

trying to get a sense of scale – how big do you think that hand is? Will it fit in my lady hands? or did they just get really nice looking giant man hands to hold it?

Not sure if this is mentioned in the article, but can this thing only play the games that are pre-loaded?

It’ll just be the built in games, unfortunately. The controller, however, will work on wii and Wii u for VC.
