I don’t think any other game has managed to take an idea from its debut and continually repackage it as something new as the Legend of Zelda games have. There’s something about exploring dungeons, searching every nook and cranny of these zones that the franchise utterly owns. It’s something that a great many gamers have scoffed at (to the max), as the idea of guiding a tween through these labyrinthine features has somehow been seen as too kiddyish to experience.
Guys, c’mon.
Dungeons in Legend of Zelda have been utter masterpieces in game design, multi-layered challenges that are fiendishly hard as nails to work through at times. It’s an idea that Nintendo has continued to define and refine over the successive entries in the franchise. And these dungeons look better than ever so far, as this new video from Nintendo’s Facebook from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild returns to the Temple of Time.
AllGamesDelta has a YouTube embed of it, which is far friendlier on the eyes on and bandwidth:
The Temple of Time has certainly seen better days. It’s an iconic location, best remembered from its appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time where it was still in a pristine state. The location has also changed in Breath of the Wild. Whereas the Temple of Time could be found near Hyrule Castle Town, it now rests near the Great Plateau and the Shrine of Resurrection in a new version of the Hyrule map.
It looks utterly gorgeous so far. There’s some Monster Hunter elements at play here in this open-world adventure, but Breath of the Wild looks like a stunner so far, easily earning top marks at E3 because Al refuses to shut the hell up about it. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is supposed to be out next year March on not only the Wii U, but the NX as well. Although I’d drop easy money on that being only half-true.
