These are all the games confirmed so far for rAge

rAge is coming. You know, the Joburg one – not that smaller scale, geek-centered thing that took place in Cape Town. Here in Gauteng, the name still stands for really awesome Gaming expo, which means it’s all about the games. Okay, there is a lot of geek stuff, too, but it’s mainly about the games. So, we chatted to all our friends at the various distributors to find out which games will be available at South Africa’s biggest gaming expo.

First things first, there will be a bunch of stands with Virtual Reality opportunities this time. Yes, the queues will probably be ridiculously long, but hopefully the experiences will be worthwhile. Ster-Kinekor Entertainment, Megarom, MSI and ASUS will all be there with VR, including PSVR, Oculus Rift and Vive, so if you are interested to see the difference between the headsets, you can certainly do so during rAge. Enough about that, though, here are all the games that are confirmed so far to be shown off at rAge:

  • Batman VR
  • Batman: Return to Arkham (playable code)
  • Dishonored 2 (Behind Closed Doors session, not playable)
  • Eagle Flight VR
  • Farming Sim 17 (playable)
  • Final Fantasy XV (playable)
  • For Honor (playable)
  • Ghost Recon (demo, not playable)
  • GT Sport (playable)
  • Hitman (playable)
  • Injustice 2 (Behind Closed Doors session, not playable)
  • LEGO Dimensions (playable)
  • Mafia III (playable)
  • NBA2K17 (playable)
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider (playable)
  • Skylanders: Imaginators (playable)
  • South Park the Fractured But Whole (playable)
  • Steep (playable)
  • Watch Dogs 2 (demo, not playable)
  • WeSing (playable)
  • WRC 6 (playable)
  • XCOM 2 (playable)

Obviously, all of the distributors are trying to bring their best games to the showcase, and there are still a few titles that might make an appearance. However, they were still waiting for confirmation at the time of writing and didn’t want us to name them only for people to end up disappointed if they couldn’t confirm.

Personally, I plan to abuse my media pass to skip the queues and check out Batman VR, For Honor (just because Sandy keeps raving about it), Hitman, Mafia III, South Park and Steep. I also fully intend to check out the Watch Dogs 2 demo – I am seriously excited for that game. I wonder, am I a bad mom if I just dump my kid at the Skylanders or LEGO stands so that I can play games? Probably… So, after expecting a fairly bland rAge, it seems that there are actually quite a few cool things for me to check out. Which titles will you be queueing to play?

Also, we haven’t organized a rAge meet-up this year, mainly because last year it seemed most community people weren’t in the mood to attend the expo, or stay later for drinks and banter. If, however, you would be keen for a meet up this year, please tell us in the comments and we (meaning, I) will totally organize something.

So, only NBA and perhaps Mafia 3 for me…though I already know I am interested in NBA – just waiting for a proper special on it.

South Africa, we are always a couple of months behind.

At CT Rage the only playable games were lego superhereos, minecraft and Tomb Raider

How to arrange Lagz community event:
    1. Pick date
    2. Inform people Rince is NOT attending
    3. Prepare for a horde of people attending

If I were in Jhb, I’d so join up, just to put some weird faces to you weirdly named people.

Is your shirt awkward or are you awkward?

And if it is your shirt, have you planned this far in advance what shirt you will be wearing?

Let’s just say that if you had asked me that in person, I’d probably let off something of a scoff and then stare around as if I’m looking for someone.

I am desperately looking for a way for me to go and leave the 2 kids with the wife in such a way as to make it cool for her.

I thought I might pop round, but I have one tiny issue.

I do not deal well with crowds and many people cramped into a small space. If I am distracted by cool things, then I am ok for a while. How busy is it, exactly? And is the venue big enough? How dangerous would it be to bring the 3 year old, that is hyperactive?

Would not mind meeting some like minded people, though. Like some of the people who comment here. I think.

Leave from work – not my style to take leave for something like this. I simply could not do that.

        But thanks for the advice.

DO NOT go on Saturday, it’s insane, Like struggle to move around, sweaty smells, insane.
Rather go Sunday Afternoon for the quietest time if you can’t take off work on Friday.

        yeah, I hear you. Ok.

Perhaps I can drive through, have a beer (read – Sprite Zero), meet some people at this restaurant meeting place, and come home, miss the actual Rage (double meaning intended).

If you want to meet the people, do that.

If you want to sweat your balls off, and look at some cool things while in horrible queues and odd people (can be1-2 hours then you see everything), then hit it.

Personally, I’ve been to 3. And the best part of it was meeting up with the community, putting faces to names etc.

Just avoid Darryn, to be safe

Hazmat suit. Yes, almost forgot that.

Can’t make it this year unfortunately.
