Division gear sets

By now, you’ve probably got a few favourite weapons and gear sets in The Division. Tried and trusted Cleaner-killers, which can easily sweep a room free of any elite and named enemies in range within Ubisoft’s RPG-shooter. Personally, I like switching between a Vector 45 ACP and the Liberator, while imagining that I’m re-enacting that fantastic showdown scene from the 2004 Punisher movie, working my way through goons and open car doors alike.

This week, there’ll be new gear and weapons to lust after in the fight to save New York from itself. Complete gear sets, as The Division borrows a page from the book of Diablo and introduces inventories that are designed to give players that extra edge. Here’s what you can expect to find when it comes to perks, for these setups when you’re wearing four pieces from the same set via GameSpot:

Striker’s Battlegear:

  • Set Bonus (2): +20% Enemy Armor Damage
  • Set Bonus (3): Critical Hit Damage
  • Set Bonus (4): Shooter (Talent): Every consecutive hit deals 1% more damage. Stacks up to 100%. Missing shots drops bonus by 2%. Bonus is reduced by 1% every second.

Path of the Nomad:

  • Set Bonus (2): +50% Scavenging
  • Set Bonus (3): +20% Health on Kill
  • Set Bonus (4): Nomad (Talent) – When receiving fatal damage, you are instead healed up to full health. Can occur once every 10 minutes.

Tactician’s Authority:

  • Set Bonus (2): +4,000 Skill Power
  • Set Bonus (3): +20% Skill Haste
  • Set Bonus (4): Tactician’s Authority (Talent) – Every 60k damage your group deals adds 1% skill power to you for a max of 100% bonus. Bonus is reduced by 1% every second the group isn’t dealing damage.

Sentry’s Call:

  • Set Bonus (2): +30% Headshot Damage
  • Set Bonus (3): +20% Damage to Elites
  • Set Bonus (4): Striker (Talent) – Headshots mark the enemy, increasing the damage inflicted on the target by 15% for a duration of 10 seconds each. A Target can receive up to three marks.

You’ll need to survive the new Incursion, Falcon Lost, to get your hands on these gear pieces. Or you can gamble on finding them in the Dark Zone and hopefully extracting without a bullet in the back. There’ll be numerous other changes to crafting and balance coming up as well this week when the April 12 update arrives, which this twat detailed last week.

  1. It looks like you can mix and match 2-3 pieces of different sets for some wicked bonuses. Assuming they stack, that is…….

The problem there is that the DPS calculations are borked, so that number it reports on your inventory screen is only a very general indication of the damage you do.

Ball-park figures for running Challenge mode are 60-70k health, 45%+ armour mitigation, and 110-120k+DPS, I’d say. A good indication would be the lvl 32 mobs in DZ5 & 6 – if you manage “ok-ish” against those, in terms of killing them and not being curb-stomped in return, you should manage Challenge modes well enough 🙂

Tom Clancy’s Destiny. Not sure if I want to grind away at a game that’s frankly boring already. Grinding for Phoenix Credits is the same as grinding for strange coins. Spent the weekend in the DZ and hardly got any loot worth keeping. Plus when I did I had to contend with packs of rogues trolling extraction points.

Hey Dude. The new patch is addressing this. Every named Enemy in the DZ will give you a 100 percent chance of a high end drop. Also, How high is your scavenging percentage ? You need to build that up. I have the Midas with 120 000 dps. What actually makes the difference is the weapon perks. If you have enough DPS/ Heath/ Electronics your weapons become different beasts as they unlock these specific perks. Also, Critical damage helps. But look out for weapon variants with balance and extra damage to elites. My Ak machine gun has extra damage to elites and it makes a huge difference. For DZ, Try to build a tank. With this new patch, DZ extractions are going to become a tough proposition. But, The most important stat is scavenging.

I suppose that because of the grinding being so similar, you kind of get enough of a fix in one of the two games, I can’t see myself buying destiny now, simply because the division is so repetitive, I’d like to level up my dz rank more though but I’ve been grinding at it for close to 40 hours and I’m at 38, and I look at the gear I have, nothing amazing really, two gold weapons and one piece of he gear, I haven’t been able to grind the challenge mode missions yet, but the one I did gifted me one of the two gold weapons, also that mode… You need at least four guys for each mission and it’s like you’re shooting at something that just sucks in bullets…

Don’t bother. I have several purple weapons that are better. Rather just get the 120 credits for the SMG (blueprint) and get a decent purple primary weapon off the DZ.

          • Darren Peach

            April 11, 2016 at 14:25

Purples are great, But a fully kitted out Gold is just superior.

            April 11, 2016 at 14:28

WoW. I have to disagree with you. A perfect roll purple is much much MUCH better than a generic Gold. Stat for stat though yeah Gold will always win but currently in the game to even get a decent Gold you need to either grind your ass off for crafting mats or exploit the game as much as possible and even then I have killed more than 20 rogue agents who thought gold items were better. It basically comes down to stats. For instance a purple M1A always beats a gold M1A if the purple M1A has the balanced talent and the gold does not. Regardless of other stats.

          • Darren Peach

            April 11, 2016 at 14:31

That is true, But a gold M1A with balance is a beast. You get 3 perks on gold weapons. Extra damage to elites, Balance and quick reload is a formidable weapon.

          • Kromas untamed

            April 11, 2016 at 14:42

Yes but unfortunately many people only see gold and don’t actually look at stats. Most snipers get that 13% chance on first bullet to debuff perk and that thing is almost useless. I am currently running a gold lvl30 Aug drop that has much better perks than the 200 odd lvl31 gold Vector crafts I have made. I pretty much stopped crafting because grinding materials is getting really annoying.

            April 11, 2016 at 14:47

I still have not reached DZ 50. So I can’t relate. But I did find a piece of gear that has adds 43 percent xp to each kill in the DZ. So I suspect the last 6 levels with be bearable.

            April 11, 2016 at 15:04

Just a quick note. After tomorrow you will get the DZ rank 50 patterns at rank 30 and new patterns will be available at rank 75 and 90. Also the old rank 50 patterns will cost DZ credits instead of Phoenix credits.

          • Darren Peach

            April 11, 2016 at 15:07

Yeah, Phoenix credits. Annoying as hell to try and amass any meaningful amount. It’s a god damn video game, not a lesson in the value of saving. That’s what piggy banks are for.

          • Darren Peach

            April 11, 2016 at 14:14

It actually takes fairly quick to amass that amount. Just grind the DZ or solo missions on hard. You sell all the gear that drops and in no time you can afford it.

          April 11, 2016 at 14:21

100% High End loot drops from lvl; 32 bosses after the patch sorta increases the rewards considerably for most of the guys running Challenge/DZ32. That is the best fix the could have added. They are screwing crafting over though.

KInda yes and no. It’s more expensive in terms of materials – hence I’ve been farming the kak out of mats the last few days – but cheaper in terms of Phoenix Credits, and HE DivTech, and we’re also getting more schematics to buy from the vendors apparently.

          • Kromas untamed

            April 11, 2016 at 14:05

Actually it is full on no as the stuff gets more expensive in terms of materials AND deconstructing materials gets cut in half. So unless you seriously farm you will not be able to craft a lot. Also only the old patterns will stop using Phoenix credits as the DZ rank 75 and 90 stuff will still need it. So crafting is completely buggered.

It was fun before I hit level 30. I’d rather be at work (and in my office) then grind my life away for strange coins/phoenix credits. The Division is another failure of the always online/multiplayer variety. I’ve decided to remain strictly single player from now on.

I played 8 hours non stop yesterday. I still have a smile on my face. Level 30 reached. Only have two area’s to clear of missions, side missions and encounters. Only have the medical wing left to upgrade the last thing. Have a few pink guns and gear and my dude is becoming a lot more proficient at killing people.
Don’t know if I will be playing it after I cleared everything though… Might move on to something new.

Killing things is easy in the PvE zones. In the DZ you can empty a clip into a baseball wielding looter and he’ll still keep coming. Imagine playing Destiny. You finish the “campaign” (LOL) and the Raids. Then they tell you there is more to do in a place where you fight super strong AI but other guardians can jump you and steal all your loot you got so far.

I like how rogue agents are marked on the map. What I don’t like is detonating a sticky bomb and accidently going rouge because someone ran into the blast radius. Or how a team of three can jump you at the extraction point because there’s no indication that they are planning to be cunts. Seriously. If me and two other guys spotted another team of three at the extraction point we’d be able to drop the first two immediately and the last shortly after that just because we can coordinate the attack. Especially if they’re in the middle of fending of AI bots. That just ruins the game

I don’t understand how those weapons are so unbalanced… The one weapon I have does 144000 dps, I run into someone and it maybe takes off a single digit of the other dudes health…

Yesterday it was a case of us clearing the roof of AI, Then I took fire from behind and by the time I turned around me and another team mate were down already. No chance to retaliate at all

Nee bliksem, I’ve found that way too many times already, in the total time I’ve spent playing the game I’ve managed to kill three rogues… 40 hours in the dz…

And takes much longer to gain XP for rank but dying because of random douches wipes out 15 min of grinding, I just want to reach a level were I can buy shiny yellow stuff 🙂

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 11, 2016 at 08:59

15 minutes? You’re lucky, my average is about 45 minutes worth…

The higher your level the more XP you need so there is that too, and that sounds even more frustrating.

I’ve found that my perception of this game is directly linked to the quality of DZ time I have

          • Hammersteyn_hates_Raid0

            April 11, 2016 at 09:01

That perception can easily be skewed then, but also, without the DZ you’d only have grinding the PvE missions left. Same as Destiny

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 11, 2016 at 09:01

It’s definitely fun, no doubt, but they stretched the levels way too far for the good loot and there is nothing in between that you can buy that’ll make up the deficit…

          • Ir0nseraph

            April 11, 2016 at 09:02

Indeed, the problem with that is some friends seems to have way too much time on there hands and now I am struggling to catch up since they have 80 hours on me and the DZ is killing the fun at the moment.

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 11, 2016 at 09:04

That’s what irritates me too, they had a level Window before you strike 30, now you’ve hit 30 and there are guys in the same pool that are level 58… How the hell are you supposed to compete against that?

          • Ir0nseraph

            April 11, 2016 at 09:07

Yeah, some guys are daily challenging ready ,so when I join it goes challenging + :P, and the only way to get to that level is dialy hard and DZ, daily hard is fast and easy but that challenging with a 100K DPS is insanity

Use the health skill with over health enabled. It renders you invincible for at least 5 seconds.

yeah, I don’t think it’s that…. the amount of cheater currently running the DZ is insane, avoid other players completely for now 99.9% chance they are cheating leave your chat windows open & check how many cheaters request to recruit other cheaters……. I’ve not met 1 legit rogue agent & I’m in 188hrs…
Also running the DZ & you suddenly get latencyrubberbanding GTFO that usually happens when the cheaters are close by, can confirm this on numerous occasions…..

Hahaha Rogue agents start gunning th3Sicness down and starts chasing me. I manage to run through not one but two groups of adds with bosses and manage to not die. 🙂

Coming from DayZ it feels horrible to know that a headshot from anything usually won’t kill. Yet somehow those DZ32 shotgun bastards kill me from sniper range with a damn shotgun.

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 12, 2016 at 08:27

Exactly!! Those morons seem to be able to kill you with a single pellet from their shotguns, with a range that spans across the whole of Manhattan, no it’s just wrong…

I can’t because I need gear to up my stats which I can’t get because trolls will troll in the DZ and everytime I die I lose XP. I am lvl 30 now so I’ll see what I can buy but after I spent all my cash it’s back to the troll zone to try and grind more resources…. Why am I doing this again?

What I found was the relentless grind with no result but after a little while, Things changed. Also, I re-rolled my stats religiously to get higher values. Have you unlocked the tech station where you can re-roll ?

            April 11, 2016 at 15:07

Yeah, will see how to use it later. I think another problem is this game is complicated at the start. You unlock all these sections not knowing their purpose

It might be the type of game that a second play-through is more pleasurable.

I have to agree with you about Rogues, What pissed me off is they are literally predators. Last night, I was extracting some gear and these two dicks waited for me to attach may loot to the rope, as I was doing this they shot me. I was not chuffed, Wait for me to be harmless. What are the developers saying ? Surely they could implement a system where if you are solo, You can be immune to this BS. I get that folks would exploit it, But maybe they could implement a system where if you found all your gear in the DZ playing solo and only killed AI you are exempt from these trolls. It’s kind of like a form of intimidation. Running past the very cocks that killed you after you re spawn and hope they don’t shoot you again.
