MOOOOOOORTAL KOMBAT! 22 years of ass-kickers uniting and heads being ripped off with Highlander-like efficiency have all culminated in one new Mortal Kombat game. It’s a game which had plenty of appeal, fans and tickets for the hype train. So naturally, the game has sold gangbusters so far, and it may be on track to be the biggest hit in the franchise to date.
That’s according to Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, who tweeted a series of messages regarding the current game sales. My net is buggered due to load-shedding right now, so I’m just going to copy and paste from his Twitter account below:
Thank you everyone for making Mortal Kombat X the biggest launch in MK history. You made the game FAR exceed our wildest expectations….!!
The Mobile & console games have had literally millions of players getting online in a really short period of time, hitting our servers HARD!
We love that so many players want to play MKX and are working (like mad) on all the issues some of you are experiencing! We WILL fix them!
Just wanted to let you know we are ABSOLUTELY listening to you, reading all your tweets & appreciate your patience!
Thing is, Mortal Kombat X will most likely continue to sell well, beyond the all important week one. And that’s because NetherRealm haven’t even released the old-gen versions of the game. And much like their previous releases, I wouldn’t exactly be surprised to see Mortal Kombat X out on PS Vita or in a shiny new Komplete edition a year from now on the same platforms. Because that’s just good business kids.
I’m busy hammering through the game right now, as I review it and find myself training for the fight of the century against some toss that set my tegno-meisie on fire. And it’s great! If you’re a fighting game afficianado, you’re going to see a whole slew of technical differences in Mortal Kombat X, as the game is made with esports in mind.
