Mortal Kombat has long been the stuff of horror. Especially if you were a concerned parent who just wanted people to think of the children, dammit! Heck, the previous Mortal Kombat even dipped its bloody shoes into classic cinematic history, by allowing players to assume the role of the Springwood Slasher himself, Freddy Kruger. Fast forward a few years, and it’s time for another notorious slasher to make a bloody splash in the game. So stay away from Kamp Krystal Lake, because Jason is coming to town.
Here’s the latest trailer for Jason’s debut in the game, which features the talkative bastard puling off Danny Trejo levels of Machete violence:
Just like every other Mortal Kombat X character, Jason will have access to three variations. Variations which I’ve broken down below for you, because I’m such a swell fella:
- Slasher – Machete heavy attacks and Jason at his classic best. Slasher allows Jason to focus on hacking and bleeding his opponents dry.
- Relentless – Jason drops the machete and goes for a more hands-on approach that opens up grapple options. Jason can also “flip” the attacks of his opponents so that countering becomes more difficult, and gains a teleport where he always pops up behind you for extra chills.
- Unstoppable – Jason can regenerate his health bar, while also significantly buffing the damage of his moves. As an added bonus, if Jason is knocked down, he’ll either recover using energy from meter bar, or if that’s empty, he’ll resurrect with 5% left on his health bar.
Kombat Pass owners get a taste of Mama Voorhees’ favourite boy from today. He’ll be available as a standalone purchase on May 12 for £3.99 or a fistful of dollars.

I would have bought my mom flowers for mothers day, but instead I spent money on DLC characters and DLC skins because the publisher saw me for the pathetically sad twat I am.

I have decided once and for all that I will from now only buy GOTY editions of games, I am done trying to convince myself that I am getting the full game day one. Batman is in the same boat for me, next year they can sell me the game and the season pass for the price I would have paid for the game now as it is without the season pass. Then at least I know I am getting the full game. If more people followed my logic then maybe we can end this DLC crap, but I know that won’t happen so I am now saving myself.

Your logic seems sound , the witcher is the only game I have pre ordered this year , batman has moved to a wait and see list , just cause 3 could screw everything up though really looking forward to that game.

I hated Just Cause 2’s controls, so that is a wait and see for me. Withcer 3 I got for free, and their DLC plans feel more fair to me. Batman is off my radar, I have the other 3. First 2 GOTY editions and the 3rd standard but this one I will wait for the GOTY again.

Just played Jason on MKX, really like the character. Silent, but deadly 🙂
