Best mobile device

We expanded our horizons this year, branching out into more areas of expertise thanks to more staff. One such area was the gadgets and mobile market, which we enjoyed reviewing and it seems you all enjoyed reading. So many cool Android phones released this year and we reviewed them all*. Well, sort of. One was a stand-out winner.

And the winner is… Sony Xperia Z3!

Xperia Z3

Beyond feeling like a slick piece of future technology, the Xperia Z3 is incredibly user friendly. With an intuitive interface, tons of apps, an excellent camera and the ability to spill your drinks all over it without consequence, the Z3 deserves to be a flagship phone. Plus, you can use it to remote play with your PS4. What more could you need?

While it carries a hefty price tag, the Z3 is the leader of the pack when it comes to Android phones on the market. If you’re ready for an upgrade and are going Android… and have a high enough budget, this is the absolute best phone that you could hope for.

Honourable mentions

LG G3, HTC One M8

*Remember, for all awards we only can give out trophies for games or tech that we reviewed. We never received an iPhone 6 review unit, so it was not eligible for this prize.

I don’t have a Sony but that’s only because the Samsung was all I could afford at the time.

Neither do I because the PS4 is cheaper than the phone

I have a tiny cellphone budget though because I literally only use it to get hold of people. Otherwise I generally forget to take it anywhere with me and never take it off silent.

Buying a phone for gaming is like buying a console to watch movies. Not that the PS4 has this feature yet.

I use my PS3 for movies.
And also for Fight Night. 🙂

Hehe. I know. My PS3’s main function is actually watching movies. It’s just when I have friends over that Fight Night presents itself. That said, I didn’t buy my PS3.

It is actually crazy .. to think about it. The phone is more expensive, you can do a lot more with the phone than with the console but the phone is mostly used for whatsapp, browsing and phone calls. The console adds a lot more to the satisfaction level 😉

is the Z3 by far the better option than the Z3 Compact if you don’t mind paying an extra R50?
