LoL Season 3

The third season of the League of Legends championship series kicks off today with many changes to the format of the series. The winners of the Season 3 World Championship tournament will host the Summoner’s Cup as the Season 3 World Champion.

This season, for the first time teams will compete weekly in regular season games that will determine who gets through to the playoff race. Eight teams from North America and eight teams from Europe will battle it out for divisional dominance in a two-part regular season. First up is part one running from 7 February through 20 April, the second from 1 June through August 31. These teams will spend half this year playing their hearts out to get a chance to compete in the World Championship for millions of dollars in prize money (500 DOLLAHS!). Check out all the details here

These teams don’t only compete just to be the best in the world, but make a living from their hard work and training, often giving up important things in their lives to make their dreams come true. Even though it might seem like choosing this career path is less serious or professional than most, it takes just as much blood, sweat and tears and probably more hours of training than we spend doing our jobs everyday to get where they want to be.
