Data guzzlers from around the world started downloading the Dota 2 patch 6.79. Not about bug fixes, this patch was purely about shifting the balance in Dota 2. With extensive changes put into place, this may just turn the Dota 2 meta on its head.
Let’s look at some of the changes. The day/night cycle is now four minutes instead of six. With that change in day/night cycle, Drow Ranger, Mirana, Puck, Leshrac, Enchantress, Ancient Apparition, Meepo and Treant Protector all have the standard 800 night vision. Roshan respawns at a random time between 8-11 minutes after death, and when the Aegis expires unused, it heals the hero fully over five seconds. There is a change to gold – starting gold has increased, as has gold income rate and the gold earned from ending a spree and tower last hit.
The biggest changes are hero and item specific – Pudge can buy Blink Dagger, Riki doesn’t lose invisibility when casting spells or using an item, and Tranquil Boots have been completely changed. Io’s tether now does -100% MS/AS slow instead of a stun while Meepo gets his first clone earlier and last clone later. The list goes on and on – just about every hero and item has been buffed or nerfed. This means new combinations and build orders are coming.

The biggest changes are the “game” changes not the hero changes tbh. And yes it will change the meta. It is a good thing though, meta has gotten a bit stale, now it feels kinda like a new game. 😀

I think its a good thing to refresh the style and feel of a game. Just so long as it doesnt happen too often. It looks like the goal is to try and expedite endgame. Which I think is the correct thing. Playing an hour long farm fest is lame.

My favourite hero is Puck… no changes? Must be a well balanced hero 😀 quite surprised with some of the changes, but I am happy regardless. Its gonna change the game which is awesome and interesting ^_^
