The King’s Avatar anime is coming in 2017

I’ve never really seen the appeal of anime. I’ve tried, and only completed Death Note, but other than that it’s something that just does not grasp me. That is until I read about the upcoming release of the The King’s Avatar, an anime of an existing Manga following the life of an eSports star who was kicked from his team. The Manga was originally written by Butterfly Blue, and Chinese titan Tencent are turning it into an anime in 2017. They’ve released a short snippet trailer, including the standard introduction featuring characters running, fighting, and coupled with some fast paced music.

The story follows Ye Xiu, a competitive player in a game called Glory. Ye is kicked from his team and decides to not stay on as a substitute, he leaves the professional scene to find work. He ends up working at an Internet Café when his real adventure begins. Glory then launches its tenth server, and Ye Xiu decided to give Glory one more shot, and dives right in. His years of experience, and memories of the past, are what compel him to continue his journey and rise to former glory.

jacket

After fighting and scheming, who snatched away my glory? Under the tossing of the wind and rain, my dreams shall appear as though they had never been shattered. In all its splendor, the path shall never be lost. Before the gazes of millions, this is where I return!

As mentioned above, the anime follows an already completed 1728 chapter Manga. There is no official release date for the anime, but Tencent have said it will air in 2017. One thing is for certain, this is a high budget production of the Manga, and Tencent (being a majority share holder in Riot Games) is the perfect company to bring this to life. Comments so far are mostly positive and aimed at the amazing production quality brought forward by Tencent.

Gaming anime is cool and stuff, although stuff like SAO and Log Horizon, after starting so strongly, strayed too far from the fact that it was a game, turned into generic combat dramas…

The main concern is with it being in Chinese, the more recent Chinese stuff that Ive tried watching have some pretty serious delays with releases.

Damn Shokugeki no Soma is awesome, really didn’t expect it to keep me so captivated. Mob Psycho 100 also seems to be pretty good and Twin Star Exorcist is also gaining steam.

One thing wrong with this article is that you say that it is based off of a manga, but it is actually based off of a webnovel as opposed to a manga (which was made after the novel).

I cant wait for this!!! The novel is super super good! I’m just worried that the anime would be too fast-paced and skip out a lot of parts since the novel is like 1000++ chapters long…

Man you do really bad research. The manga isn’t finished at all. And the Ye in Ye Xiu is his surname not first name. So referring to the character as Ye makes no sense. I don’t know how they plan to arrange it in English but his English name would be read as Xiu Ye as the Chinese do surnames first not last.

Actually, referring to him as Xiu makes no sense. Since Chinese say the surname first, then why should the article writer use Xiu? Is it wrong for a Chinese person to call you by your first name, even though in their culture they would say the surname instead? Thus, referring to him as “Ye” is actually correct in this instance. And if you want to get all “English Technicality” on me, you would refer to people by their last name after stating their full name in formal writing. This article counts as formal writing.

Rereading what I wrote. The last sentence is nonsensical. However if you’ve read the novel you’d know that he’s not the only character from his family in the story. So reducing it to just Ye only leaves way too much room for confusion

I did not know this, as i have only seen 6 subbed episodes thus far. However, in the context of this article, i would say that reducing his name to simply “Ye” is good enough, since his family has not been mentioned within the article. Now if you had introduced his relatives within the article, then i would agree and say that reducing his name to Ye is confusing. But he’s the only Ye in this article so…
