Two months ago the Esports Championship Series (ECS) was announced. A unique league offering the teams involved co-ownership of the league, as well as their share of a $3.5 million prize pool. The ECS is the largest CS:GO prize pool to date, and this unique tournament will put Europe and North America’s best teams head to head in London, United Kingdom.

The UK is growing rapidly in terms of it’s eSports coverage, with ESL having just concluded at the Gfinity Arena this past weekend. ECS will take place at the SSE Arena in Wembly, one of London’s most prestigious Arenas which has played host to international stars such as Madonna, Beyoncé, and more. Tickets have already gone on sale, and the venue will be open to the public come game weekend.

Upon announcement ECS invited 20 teams to take part in the league. Ten teams from North America and Europe. The list is as follow:

North America:

  • Counter-Logic Gaming
  • Cloud9
  • compLexity
  • Echo Fox
  • Luminosity Gaming
  • NRG eSports
  • OpTic Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • Team SoloMid
  • Without a Roof

Europe:

  • Astralis
  • Team Dignitas
  • EnvyUs
  • FaZe
  • Fnatic
  • G2 eSports
  • Mousesports
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Virtus.Pro

Natus Vincere, who were the 10th invitee from Europe, pulled out and their spot has not been filled yet. The seeding part of the tournament has been underway for a few months with Europe being topped by Astralis and FaZe, while North America is held firmly by Luminosity and CLG. This past weekend at ESL Luminosity faced off against G2 eSports in an epic Grand Final going all the way to the 5th map, and over time. Luminosity reigned supreme, once again, but this proved just how tight the global scene is at the moment. The teams are competing for one of the largest prize pools in CS:GO history and we can expect some first class CS:GO come June 24th at SSE Arena in Wembly.
