The African Cyber Gaming League launches their new site

The African Cyber Gaming League began as a discussion between a number of friends back in 2014. I recall sitting around a table with founders Nick Holden and Clint O’Shea as they outlined their plans for an organization which would regulate online and LAN tournaments for the years to come. Both founders have a rich knowledge of the local and international scene, making this one of the more promising organizations who have entered the competitive gaming scene.

Nick Holden and co-founder Clint O’Shea have both run successful eSports organization such as Clan Connection and Zombiegamer, respectively. Through the two organizations came a wealth of knowledge in tournament administration, broadcasting and media, making the ACGL what it is today.

The organization was officially launched in early 2015 as it primarily operated the MWEB GameZone Master Series for both Call of Duty and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Since then the ACGL has run a number of tournaments, most notably the ASTRO Gaming Cup earlier this year at rAge Cape Town.

The ACGL has now grown, including new staff and a brand new website to further their ambitions within the eSports world. The announcement of the all new ACGL means the absorption of Clan Connection,  as co-owner Nick Holden focuses on the new project.

“The launch of ACGL marks the beginning of a new adventure and the end of a beloved organization in Clan Connection. We already have some exciting plans ahead, which we can’t wait to share with you all. ACGL – we are here to stay.”

Zombiegamer, a household name in the console community, will continue operations, while the ACGL will become the eSports standard for their growing partnership.

“ACGL is an exciting development for me. It’s time to give South Africa and Africa an eSports home, and ACGL is that home,” said Clint O’Shea, owner of Zombiegamer.

An exciting prospect for the future of eSports, and the ACGL are kicking things off with a Halo 5 2v2 Tournament.

Thanks Kyle. You say the nicest things (unlike Geoff but I know he secretly loves me).

Side note: Too bad the news section just broke as the article went live, but what would a journey be without potholes and alcohol.
