Did you read the interview with The Mummy director/producer Alex Kurtzman yesterday? It contained tons of great information about the upcoming reboot and the shared movie monster universe that it will be kicking off for Universal, but I can fully understand if you didn’t since it was longer than Darryn’s rap sheet (his hamster smuggling ring is a huge criminal empire in PE).

Luckily, for those of you that prefer moving pictures over thousands of words, Universal have released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for The Mummy that actually gives us quite a number of new looks at the film. We get to see some of the film’s fantastic looking action sequences, get an expanded look at Sofia Boutella’s titular mummy before and after her transformation, meet more of the cast, see how that plane crash featured in the first trailer was shot in zero-gravity, and more. We even learn the name of the organization that Russell Crowe’s Dr. Jekyl works for: Prodigium. And if that’s not enough, we even get a good glimpse at Crowe and star Tom Cruise going toe to toe in massive slugfest. C’mon, who doesn’t want to see Tom Cruise get body slammed?! And set to the soundtrack of Game of Thrones‘ “Winds of Winter”? Sold!

Check it out below.

The Mummy was written by Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange, Prometheus) and Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and is directed by Alex Kurtzman (writer/producer on Star Trek franchise), who is also producing along with producers Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious franchise) and Sean Daniels (The Mummy trilogy).

The Mummy also stars Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe, and is scheduled for release on June 9, 2017.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

Maybe the love for Tom is real? A thirst for a cup of Cruise?

It’s always fun watching Tom Cruise getting his ass kicked. He doesn’t play a bad guy often enough in movies, he needs more death scenes.
I reckon he should take over from Ron Perlman as Hollywood’s go-to guy for “a million ways to die in a movie”.

Like Ryan Reynolds entire 8 second role in A Million Ways To Die in The West. Loved it.

My favourite death scene in that movie was the guys eating chilli and farting themselves to death.
