We know all about the violent glory that awaits us in the Batman V Superman: Ultimate Edition, but 2016 actually also boasts another R-rated tale involving the Dark Knight.
Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s 1988 graphic novel, “Batman: The Killing Joke”, is arguably the greatest comic book story ever involving Batman’s nemesis the Joker. It’s an extremely violent and shocking tale, highly controversial for its time. And the upcoming animated feature film adaptation is looking to follow suit as it will be the very first non-PG-13 DC Comics animated movie.
And today we finally have our first proper extended look at it as Yahoo have unveiled the first trailer. It’s just a green band trailer though, so none of that R-rated goodness yet, but it’s still looking pretty great. Check it out below.
Batman: The Killing Joke sees Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their respective Batman: The Animated Series voice roles as Batman and the Joker. There’s no exact scheduled release date yet for the movie, but it will be out later this year.

I agree. Ep VII was a lot of fun. But we’re talking about Disney here, the company that has been the posterchild for creativity…and then they do this. It’s damn disappointing. People were right to be afraid of Disney taking over.
It may have been a fun movie, and it definitely was, but it wasn’t exactly the most memorable. It just saddens me. The, now excluded, lore that exists outside the movie franchise is a thousand times better.

all things evolve and change over time. Disney is still very relevant in their market segments, you should see some 4 year old girls and how they respond to the Disney Princess onslaught. It is priceless. Or it should be. But Disney has indeed put a price on Princess’s merchandise. And it raised their bottom line a few years when they started the cartoons about the Princess’s.

I work with licensed brand, so I do see this. I’ve been to a few too many Princess events in my life, I’ll admit. Kids are still absolutely crazy about it.
But, that said, I don’t mean that because Disney has changed, there’s nothing. I’m just saying that Disney is not as imaginitive anymore. We’ve got guys like Pixar and other companies filling that role now.

I read an article a few years back in the Time magazine about how Disney made a fortune by deciding to build all their Princess’s into a big brand identity. Marketing won, it worked.

Oh yes. That I can also confirm. I have meetings about Princess’s alone that span over an hour. They’re really working on building a good brand there, and to get back to the initial thing, that’s my issue: They’re building a Star Wars brand by keeping it slightly generic, which is kind of sad. But it’s business.

What the article drove home was how encompassing the Disney strategy is / was. They included EVERY singly medium they could, stage shows, series, short movies, merchandising and a probably several things I would never think of. They mobilised a lot AND got a ton of cash back from that.
I think we should wait for the Star Wars series they produce and the animated movie I heard was coming and then judge, not on one big budget movie. Big budget movie has to be more pleasing to the general public.
