Yesterday at Sony’s conference, we learned that old favourites Cammy and Birdie would be added to the Street Fighter V roster. Capcom and Sony showed off the two returning brawlers yesterday, showing off their new V triggers.

Cammie made her Street Fighter debut in Super Street Fighter II, while Birdie – from Final Fight – first became playable in the prequel Street Fighter Alpha. According to Sony, they’re both “back by popular demand.” We’ve seen no word on any original characters for the fighter yet, which is a bit disappointing – but there’s still time.

At the same time, Sony announced that Street Fighter V would be getting a PlayStation 4 exclusive public beta, which you can sign up for right now. If you head on over to the Street Fighter V site, you can sign up for the beta, which kicks off in July. And for a change, we South Africans are actually on the list.

“The legendary fighting franchise returns with Street Fighter V! Powered by Unreal Engine 4 technology, stunning visuals depict the next generation of World Warriors in unprecedented detail, while exciting and accessible battle mechanics deliver endless fighting fun that both beginners and veterans can enjoy.“

Street Fighter V is coming early next year, and is exclusive to the PlayStation 4 as far as consoles are concerned. It’s coming to the PC as well, with cross-platform play thrown in.

We recently got confirmation that the game is exclusive to those platform for perpetuity, and won’t be making its way to the Xbox One under another name.

Geoff will you guys try and put up an article with all the Beta’s that are on the way please? I am going to try and get in on each and every one of them. That is how Destiny won me over. Maybe I find another genre I really didn’t like that I actually do like…
