Whether it be poor word of mouth, a bad advertising campaign or general apathy, there are a ton of great games which get lost in the second-hand shelves of time. Games that should have been more prolific, titles that should have had sequels rushed into development by now. We’ve gone throughthroigh several shelves at a dodgy Cash Crusaders uncovering such games over the weekend. Here are five games that got a raw deal.
As usual, we could be completely wrong with our choices, and you might think of other games that never got the praise that they deserved. Feel free to blame Al, and tell us which ones you reckon more people should be playing right now, during the August lull.

Personal Opinion/Rant —> Thing with DmC is…It was a good game, it was however, in no way, a love letter to the original canon and story. People seem to think its just about the hair. Sure fans were upset about it, but the hate was mostly aimed at TamTam’s utter disregard for the franchise’s characters and fans. His cockiness in handling the series was disgusting. You see, DMC has a pretty big fanbase and I don’t care how great of a writer you think you are, when handling an established series, you do so with respect. The great story Tam was hyping up was nothing more than cliched wana-be hollywood writing trying to appeal to the angsty teen generation. The rebellious teen trying to save the girl. It was nothing more than pretentious ideologies of what he thinks modern teens are like. Teens just LURRV Dick jokes right? I will never give Ninja Theory credit for anything. Capcom handled the gameplay which was the only thing that saved the game for me (Which, by the way was all flash and NO depth)…
…
…
Anyway, I don’t like DmC, and its probably because of my fanboyism and I’m probably whiny, but I hate the way TamTam went about things, the things he said…and also F the white mop/hair joke…

Spec Ops: The Line has one of the best FPS stories ever, but I don’t want a sequel – just wouldn’t make sense. I’m quite looking forward to playing Remember Me soon. DMC & XCOM I’ll probably get sometime in the future as well, they don’t look too bad to me.
One I’m quite sad about that didn’t do so well is Alpha Protocol. It got such crap reviews that I was never too interested & eventually picked it up in the old bargain bin in BT Games for less than R50. And it was a really cool game, don’t understand the hate.

DmC was freaking awesome imo. I’m used to playing games that has a story as its strong point. So it was refreshing for me to actually PLAY a game by bashing random buttons and making awesome combos while murdering random demons! Also, the Succubus boss fight was awesome.

The problem with DMC is it’s DMC but it’s not Dante, it’s a clone, a shadow of Dante. He’s semi-Dante. He’s quasi-Dante. He’s the margarine of Dante. He’s the Diet Coke of Dante. Just one calorie, not Dante enough.

A request: How’s about adding a text list to the articles as well? Just a list. Then those of us videologically challenged can also take part in the discussion?

DMC was great but the new Dante was a dick. they should have just called him something else and it would have been better.
Have yet to play Knack
Spec ops had an amazing story that at times made me sick to my stomach (that white phosphorous scene :()
Remember me never quite grabbed me and I never went past the first half.
Still want to play Xcom the bearu.
overall a great list 🙂

Loved every sickening scene of Spec Ops. Proper story telling there.
