Rate dungeon keeper

Geoff already told you how Dungeon Keeper has been horribly defiled by EA. A mobile game filled with micro transactions, what a mess! Yet now, it seems that you can’t even give it a bad rating.

People started complaining yesterday, saying that it was impossible to give the game less than 5 stars when rating the app on the Android version. When pushed with the prompt to rate the game, it asked if you wanted to give it 5 stars, or 1-4 stars. Choosing 5 stars would redirect to the Google Play page, while choosing the other option would divert users to a feedback form. Sure, users could always just go to the Google Play page to give a lower rating, but most people rate directly from a prompt and carry on with their daily lives.

EA commented on the rating set up, justifying their need for feedback from players:

We’re always looking at new ways to gather player feedback so that we can continue to improve our games. The ‘rate this app’ feature in the Google Play version of Dungeon Keeper was designed to help us collect valuable feedback from players who don’t feel the game is worth a top rating. We wanted to make it easier for more players to send us feedback directly from the game if they weren’t having the best experience. Players can always continue to leave any rating they want on the Google Play Store.

It still seems very underhanded from EA. Rate-gate is just the latest scandal to make EA seem like a greedy, underhanded and shady company. Do they really need to do this? Aren’t there better ways? How about, um, making great games that people want to play? Wouldn’t that be a better strategy?

I’ll just leave this here. Pay close attention to all those 4 and 5 star ratings. Do you notice anything similar??
and then you get the guy from EA Mythic,Jeff Skalski, saying “Look at all those 4 and 5 star ratings , proof that people love this game, and it’s only a vocal minority that are complaining”.

I noticed that in the reviews for the game on the app store. Almost every single one is negative, yet it averaged 5 star ratings. Obviously from people just rating it in the app.

And they don’t understand why gamers (mainly) rate them worst company in the US. They would probably win least fav in World as well at the rate they going.

I wonder how many microtransactions will be in Titanfall/DA Inquisition?

You tell the truth, and I am just as guilty as the rest! I KNOW I shouldn’t but I ended up buying NFS Rivals and enjoy the little I have played to date (only recent EA release I have).

But the true gamers are not the issue – most of, what we shall call for ease of reference, casual players, play FIFA, COD every year. So you and I choose to ignore a release but we are the minority in most cases so EA/etc get away with it.

Let’s not forget that EA are not the only culprits here…they just happen to give us more ammunition!

The rating system on the various App Stores is not relevant.

Several productivity tools I tried out average 5 at rating, but ALL the written reviews are negative.

I now just use my calendar, linked to office server and tasks, no 3rd party tools.
