Lieutenant Morales will bring new healing to Heroes of the Storm

With the StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void release drawing closer, it’s no wonder that Heroes of the Storm is giving that franchise some attention. Blizzard’s MOBA may have the likes of Kerrigan, Raynor, and even the almighty Tassader running around, but it lacks a proper support character from that particular universe. That will no longer be the case, because Lieutenant Morales is about ready to enter the Nexus.

She’s not available officially just yet however. She is in the PTR already though, meaning she should be patched into the main game client pretty damn soon. In the meantime, Blizzard have released a spotlight video explaining her abilities in more detail.

Here’s a quick overview of what she can do (via the Heroes of the Storm Gamepedia):

Basic Abilities

Caduceus Reactor (Passive)

Regenerate 3.12% of your maximum Health every second after not taking damage for 4 seconds.

Healing Beam (Q)

Heal an ally for 420 (40 + 20 per level) health a second as long as they are in range. Reactivate to switch targets, or activate your Trait to cancel the channel.

Safeguard (W)

Grant target ally Resistant, reducing damage taken by 25% for 3 seconds.

Displacement Grenade (E)

Fire a grenade that explodes on the first enemy hit, dealing 460 (80 + 20 per level) damage, knocking enemies away.

Heroic Abilities

Stim Drone (R)

Grant an allied Hero 75% Attack Speed and 25% Movement Speed for 10 seconds.

Medivac Dropship (R)

Target a location for a Medivac transport. For up to 10.5 seconds before takeoff, allies can right-click to enter the Medivac.

Lt Morales

As expected, Lieutenant Morales doesn’t have much in the way of offense, but she comes packed with a plethora of neat support abilities. My favourite by far is her one heroic ability, Medivac Dropship. Having the option to fly allies across the map in a matter of seconds will be invaluable, especially in a game like Heroes of the Storm. I do wonder if perhaps it is not a teeny bit overpowered though.

Regardless, I have to commend Blizzard for putting together yet another interesting character. I look forward to trying Lieutenant Morales when she enters the Nexus in the near future.

The image of a single marine trying to shoot two medics ad infinitum comes to mind now.

I’d love to see the inner workings of these suits. The proportions look so wrong on that, a human body could not work that thing properly. The shoulders (specifically the underarms) are way too far out for any human body, the legs spread out at the hip more like a protoss than any human, and it looks unnatural and wrong.

The suits are half mechanical. Starcraft actually shows it well when a certain somebody gets into the suit.

His bodily proportions are all kinds of wrong too. But his suit in particular fits him properly, because of that. It’s not about length or size, it’s about shape. The shape of his suit is fine, for his body. But just look at her shoulders in the screenshots. Where they go from shoulder to arm is where her elbows would be, not her shoulders. That’s what I’m saying.

In a sense her suit should be a whole lot slimmer. I get what you’re saying.

Edit: Also – she breaks the game. So I’m not wrong. Twit.

The thing with Morales, shes absolutely amazing at single target healing, but that healing can not be used on herself, and she has nothing in the way of an escape.

So some words to live by in the Nexus. Focus Medic!
