Diablo III player power levels his character to 70 in just over a minute

POWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER levelling

I spent a large portion of the long weekend playing Diablo III. The bug really has bitten me again thanks to the launch of Season 3 (I hate you Blizzard), and I was more than happy to spend loads of hours mindlessly clicking and looting. I managed to take my Crusader up to level 70 (solo; not with the help of other high level friends) as well as accumulate some paragon levels. Overall, level 1 to paragon 30 took me around 15 hours, not the greatest time by a long shot, but not too shabby either, right? I didn’t think so too, at least until I compared my time to Dat Modz. He took his Monk from amateur to the max level in a little over a minute.

Yeah, that’s nothing short of insane! I didn’t believe it until I watched the video myself. Check it out (via Kotaku). You may want to turn your volume down a notch as there is a bunch of loud jubilation at the end:

This run was made possible thanks to three important pieces of gear that provide big bonuses to experience gain:

Hellfire Ring

Ring

Gem of Ease (socketed into a ring)

gem

Leoric’s Signet

Ring (2)

His equipment obviously doesn’t mirror those shown above, they are just examples. Beyond his item choices, Dat Modz had his high level friends hold his hand through the Cow Level rift – a rarity that packs some delicious, ridiculous xp within.

It’s no wonder his levelling is through the roof! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to cry over the fifteen hours of time I apparently wasted over the weekend. One minute to hit level 70? I still can’t get my head around it.

I am enjoying it as it deviates just enough from WoW to make it fresh and it has some awesome innovative ideas plus the crafting is the best in any MMO I have ever played. Plus Chocobo mounts that can assist you in fights if you have food for them. All and all a nice reprieve from WoW and EvE.

Am I the only one around here who doesn’t see the fun in that at all?

I think the fun in that was for the “Hahaha wow that actually worked” factor. Doing it as a norm would be boring. But doing it once off just to see if you could… Yeah that’s pretty lulz worthy I reckon

didnt have to endure it for all that long.
theory crafting it and getting content for a youtube channel, seems like a decent enough idea.

I don’t see the fun in it either, but I do find it amazing that such a feat is possible 😛

I enjoyed playing Diablo 3 with my SO on the same console. One of only a few games we can play like this.

I haven’t purchased the expansions yet. Are they worth it? What is Season 3?

Definitely worth it. The game is basically reinvented, but in a good way. Seasons in Diablo are time periods and a style of game play where by you create a new character and start with zero gear on them. You level and play the game as normal, however as a seasonal character, you are entitled to bonus loot that is season specific. When that season ends, all your gear and money gets transferred to your main Diablo stash. A caveat to this however is that Seasons are only available on PC, and not on Consoles as they have real time leaderboards that are tied to them. Without everyone being permanently online on consoles, it wouldn’t work.

You need none of those gear pieces to level any toon from 1 to 70 in just over an hour *if you are taking help from level 70 friends*. Torment VI provides a 16x exp boost and running normal rifts at T6 will get you there very quickly (again, with the help of a lvl 70 friend).

There should be zero outrage over this video: The occurrence of the new “cow level” rift spawning is very low. This video required the guy already had leveled to 70, gotten some hand me down gear, then had his friends farm rifts until they found one with the cow level.

Again, a newbie to D3 only needs a lv70 friend with just over an hour to kill to reach paragon level play.

      Agreed.
The guy has clearly already grinded with another char to a high paragon as well as the fact he already had a rift key.

Rather ask him how long it took with the original char.
