YouTube is going 60fps on its videos

Gone in 60 frames

Yes YouTubers, it is indeed true. Starting pretty much from today, you can now throw up videos of your inane opinions on topics that you’re vastly underqualified to discuss in blisteringly gorgeous 60fps.

Don’t believe me? Neither do I, but that may be because I’m wielding a crappy laptop right now that can’t handle more than a single frame per hour. So you’ll just have to take my word for it with these videos that I’ve left below that show off 48 and 60fps action:

So what does this have to do with gaming? Well let’s be honest here, provided that you have the line, watching 60fps gameplay can be rather attractive. A higher frame-rate will thus help content creators upload videos which will give a better sense of the visuals on the offer, as opposed to the usual 24fps that YouTube limits uploaders with.

Which means that you can expect plenty of PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One footage in the future that leaves that much of a larger gap behind when compared to the Let’s Plays of the older generation of gaming. According to the YouTube Creator Blog, many more changes are on the way, which will help make video content that much better.

Which honestly, I find rather neat. I’m busy playing through the wonderfully brutal Sniper Elite 3, and I’d love to share my silky smooth Kraut-shots with you.

This Sniper Elite has got my interest piqued, to be honest.

So you can upload your review of a game at 60fps and have it removed due to the new privacy laws 60seconds later?

So, you have Google coming up with stuff in 60 frames per second before Microsoft does?
