I have a horrible relationship with special editions of games. I’ve sworn them off, ever since that incident at CNA where I threatened to make a child bloodier than a Mel Gibson snuff film if he didn’t hand over the collector’s edition for Far Cry 3. I’m on the fence though about getting the super duper edition for Batman prequel Arkham Origins. Especially if it means flying across the world to get this particular version.
Here, take a look at this (Click to embiggen):
That’s the UK/European version of Arkham Origins that we’ll be getting. Now take a look at what our hotdog-scarfing Honey Boo Boo brethren across the pond are getting:
That’s just not bloody fair. It’s mostly the same stuff, but the statue that comes with it actually way, way better than the current one which has Batman practicing some auto-asphyxiation Kung Fu on the Joker. In addition, this is what you’ll get with the special edition, according to Coming Soon:
- Exclusive Arkham Origins highly detailed premium statue featuring LED effects produced by TriForce (Height: 9?, Depth: 11.5?, Width: 13?
- 80-page, full-color hardcover art book measuring approx. 7.5” x 10.75” x .5”
- 2 key pieces of evidence taken directly from the Gotham City Police Department crime lab
- Batman Wanted Poster
- Batwing Prototype Schematic
- Anarky logo stencil
- Glow-In-The-Dark map of Gotham City
- Wayne Family Photo
- Assassin’s Intel Dossier, including files on the 8 assassins, as well as Black Mask’s contract
- 1st Appearance Batman Skin: Look just like Batman did during his first appearance in Detective Comics #27, released in 1939.
- Deathstroke Challenge Pack – Unlock the ability to play as one of the world’s deadliest assassins! Usable throughout all the Arkham Origins Challenge maps. Also includes two bonus challenge maps and two bonus Deathstroke Skins.
- Bonus (not available in Australia / New Zealand): Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics– This new feature-length documentary from Warner Bros Home Entertainment focuses on DC Comics’ most terrifying villains. Legendary actor Christopher Lee narrates the film.
- The PS3 edition will also include the Knightfall pack as an exclusive piece of content
It’ll cost you though. $129 to be exact. But dammit, I’d threaten another child smaller than me for the damn thing.

I know it’s been forever since you guys have been ranting about it but just to make you feel better, “our” (meaning the hot dog scarfing honey boo boo lovers across the pond) version sucks ballsack. I just got it. The statue isn’t even that. It’s a plastic-y, toy-like, fail. So congrats, you guys got the better one.

I’m from the US, and I’m more interested in the UK version. Irony.
Better statue and steel book edition. But if it really upsets you, there’s a little thing called ebay where you can just buy the US edition from there.

I dunno if this is in any way odd or not but in Australia we’ll have the choice of both the UK/Europe Collector’s Ed. and the US Collector’s Ed (named the “Definitive Ed.” here). The problem for me is, which one to choose???

I would be willing to trade a PS3 NA copy for a UK version as I would like one of each to keep. Not sure how that would work on here though and there is no store other than Amazon UK that is even selling this edition and they won’t ship to the US.

I’m an American and I while I agree that the UK is getting the “short end of the stick”, I honestly think the statue/figurine you guys are getting is far better than the one the we get. It looks way more bad ass and actually has Batman. I guess the LED thing is cool, but ultimately I don’t give a shit. If I’m buying a Batman game, I want a collectible that portrays Batman. I implore you to throw them on Ebay and I’m sure plenty of people in North America will snatch them, I know I’ll be checking.

First off it’s not $129 its $119. Second off.. do you know how many fucking times UK/EU has gotten better collectors editions than us? “It’s not fair”? Suck it up, kid. We have to all the time.

I honestly like both even though I live in the US. The us version lights up and has a whole lot more bonuses, but the uk edition has batman himself. So, don’t be angry because they’re both great in my opinion.

I think if you’re going to choose a career in which you’re thoughts are expressed publicly, then you need to choose your words more carefully. Your words about America are offensive, were all in this life together so let’s try and be more civil.

Give me a break. Ubisoft screws North America with every single special edition they release. I don’t know why any region seems to get screwed like this when a special edition of a game is released. Hopefully it gets addressed at some point. It’s just silly.

I got mine here in Australia. The issue was that the preorder started very early (las january) and it was sold out within a week. So part of this information is incorrect. The other two versions are still available.

If it makes you feel better I actually own this over-glorified collector’s edition and I can tell you right now that the statue is absolute garbage. It’s made entirely out of cheap, flimsy plastic and the actual screens don’t even begin to come close to how good they look in the advertisement. Premium statue my ass. This thing is nothing more than a playset for a 5 year old.

I have both statues both which I really like. The paint on the EU collectors edition is brilliant. Both Batman and the Joker stand out and it creates that scene where Joker doesnt give a sh** how much Batman hits him whilst it gives you the impression of the physical superiority of Batman. All in all a brilliant brilliant statue. However, the US version statue of the Joker is quite brililant as well. It creates the impression of the Joker being the man behind the scense, the chief, the boss. Do as he says or you are dead. The scenery i.e. including the table, the carpet, the floor, the cash are brilliant. Joker smashing the knife in the table is brilliant and the LED tv’s are really cool when lit at night. If you had to go for quality you have to choose EU statue where you got the 2 big characers in 1 and their paint is brilliant. But if you had to go for coolness and scenery you have to go for the american statue the only disappointment is the paint..I would have made the Joker stand out a bit more with purple paint. But I got to say I have both and I love them both brilliant products Batman always rocks

The lights on the US statue are not bright. In fact, I was going to re-wire mine and put in better lamps that are a bit brighter, although I may sell it. The TV’s in the background have pictures of some of the characters, but it’s not really worth the extra money. I’m 40, been a comic nerd for most of those. Proof? I have a BTAS Joker and Harley tattooed on my right calf. Also, I’m HUGE too, so is the ink.
Hope this helps.
