Valiant Hearts is coming to iOS

Of all the games that I’ve played this year, Valiant Hearts had the biggest emotional impact. It goes beyond being heart-warming or upsetting; it is genuinely and impressive bit of story-telling. No, the gameplay isn’t great, but it’s still a tear-jerker of an experience. Now, more people can have that experience.

Ubisoft has now announced that the game that might just make you cry is coming to iOS. I could actually see it being an excellent fit on mobile – the gameplay isn’t rocket science and it might be even more engaging on tablet.

This mobile version coming on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch introduces intuitive touch controls, completely rethought and adapted to the mobile format, making Valiant Hearts more accessible than ever before.

Launching 4 September on iOS devices, Valiant Hearts will make you sad. However, it’s all worthwhile because there are also moments that make you happy, and really, it’s all about commemorating the Great War. WWI is often eclipsed in people’s knowledge and memories by WWII, and it’s nice to see Ubisoft contributing to our shared consciousness with this project. It certainly made me appreciate the sacrifices of all the men and women during the war, as well as emotionally connect with the stories of the times.

Did you play the game on PC or console? What do you think – will this be a good fit for the game, or will the “casual” gameplay style take away from the hardcore emotional rollercoaster? I’m just happy that more people will be able to get their hands on the game. The PC and console versions retailed for about $15, so I’m presuming that it will be about the same on mobile as well.
