Torment: Tides of Numenera delayed because of too much money

When we reach $4 million, I release the hiunds.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is looking like a blast from the past so far. Old school RPG mechanics meets new school rolls of the dice and dungeons which might possibly have dragons inside of them. Gamers are happy that this game went to Kickstarter to get the funds necessary to make it real. So happy in fact, that T:TN has been delayed because too much money was thrown at it.

“We purposely designed Torment to be modular so that, if we had additional funding, we could easily expand upon the game in ways that would make sense. Your support has exceeded our expectations,” said project lead Kevin Saunders in a Kickstarter update via ShackNews.

It is clear to us that to create as high quality a final product as we desire, and as you deserve, we’re going to want more time than we had in our original schedule.

Thanks to legions of gamers telling Saunders and his team to shut up and take their money, it looks like the proposed 2014 launch date will need to be moved down a couple of months;

We do know that we’ll need a few months past the December 2014 launch date we first proposed at $900,000.

We’ll provide more details about our schedule after we have time to complete our planning following the Kickstarter. We thank you greatly for providing us enough resources to increase Torment’s scope and quality bar. It’s our plan to use funds to keep the team on the project longer, allowing us to design, iterate, and polish more, to make a game that truly lives up to the Torment name.

The Torment Kickstarter will be wrapping up soon, and having originally asked for $900 000 in cash, it surpassed that with a current total of over $3.4 million from 62 144 backers. That drive has allowed for quite a few of the stretch goals to be met, and there’s still a few more to go over the next three days.

Soooo, five you say? (hopes Zim currency also revalued….)

There are no thing like a Zim Dollar anymore it’s completely worthless. They are using foreign currencies (SA Rand, US dollar, etc.) since 2009

Nah, they divided the currency by 1000 in Jan 2013. I got a letter from the reserve bank.

So K4000 (4000 Kwacha) was the price for bread, now 4 and the same with your salary.

I do not know the exchange rate at the moment but I think is still in our favour

Off topic but you dont get to see this EVER!!!

The start of the end credits in Tomb Raider the player is thanked for supporting, playing and spending their time to finish Tomb Raider. Then half the credits are devoted to all the fan sites. Then the devs tell us that they gave it their all and are 100% proud of their creation 🙂

    MY PLEASURE CRYSTAL DYNAMICS… Anytime.

SEE??????? Its not that hard to do.

All we see these days is production babies and and the odd apology (Casey Hudson :p)

I always though if they’ve spend less time making babies and more time doing actual development, the games might come out a bit better.

Yip it has the best pacing that I have ever seen in the last 30 years. Just as you think its going to become a tedious mind bender like TR1 or try to avoid the combat because of clunky controls or fight the camera or get a level dragged out to prolong the game then lose interest because one forgot what they wanted to do when returning to the game a week later.

It was balanced perfectly with a shit load of thought into what goes on in the average gamers head.

fun controls (loved upgrading the pistol and doing a head execution after the melee counter), fun story, I was transfixed on the character model and how much detail was thrown into her and the vistas. Great frame rate, no screen ripping or slowdowns, Great music from BAFTA award winners who invented unique sounds never heard before.

One can just tell subliminally when something reeks of passion and near perfection without having to go on Metacritic.

        WIN

I am seriously thinking of just starting it from scratch again!!! And that hasn’t happened in my gaming life which is effectively about 20 years… I think I might love this game….

I bet it’s because every one of the developers first want to fulfill their childhood fantasy of being Scrooge McDuck and swimming in the vault 😉
