Thief PC requirements will steal all of your RAM

Finally, Geoff's secret ION folder

I can game on pretty much every system, but I’ll always prefer consoles, due to the fact that my empty bank account would slap me in the face with a piece of hard salami if I ever attempted to try and build a proper gaming rig. And I’d need one for Thief as well if I went in that direction, because my limited knowledge is pointing to that game having some hefty system requirements.

Think you’re up for some thieving? Here’s the hardware that you’ll most likely have to pilfer in order to get the game running on your PC:

Minimum System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows Vista with platform update
  • CPU: High-performance dual core CPU or quad core CPU
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 4800 series / Nvidia GTS 250
  • DirectX: DirectX 10
  • HDD/SSD: 20 GB

Recommended Specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 or 8
  • CPU: AMD FX 8000 series or better / Intel i7 Quad Core CPU
  • RAM: 4+ GB
  • Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better
  • DirectX: DirectX 11
  • HDD/SSD: 20 GB

Attitude Specs

  • A smug attitude, because screw those damn console gamers with their ability to play games (nearly!) right away.

Console Specs

  • A console

It’s almost time for Thief to step out of the shadows. The game is due out on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 as well at the end of February, and it includes a couple of game modes to amp up the difficulty and challenge that long-time fans should appreciate.

Is your PC up to the task of running the game?

  1. Thats quite a bit of specs right there. Then again my pc is like the stone age lol my cpu will most probably burn out and ram will malfunction as well cause its so old. lol My 460GTX still runs like a dream though.

The i7 is not needed. I swear Intel asked them to put it up there.

Games of today is not even CPU intensive, it is all about the GPU…

What the hell? An AMD FX with an R9? Hot damn! That’s nuts.

My PC (which is still aging relatively well) is only JUST in the minimum requirement range.

Remember the AMD R9’s have lower R9’s as well that are cheap. It didn’t say a top range R9. Most likely one of the cheaper ones that match up in specs to the GTX660

It’s not just R9s, it’s HD-series as well, so basically if it’s a DX11 card it meets recommended specs.

To be honest those are pretty low specs, a GTX660 ? Come on. Yes they say R9 but remember the low end R9’s are pretty cheap. 4+ gigs of RAM if you don’t have that then I’m not sure how you play any games these days

I agree, I don’t consider my PC to be high end, its a few years out of date, and I still beat the recommended. On the bright side, I can’t wait to see it, it has been a while since a game didn’t try to be able to run on any old system, this could be beautiful.

Meh. Those recommended specs aren’t that high.
    4GB RAM is standard.
and the minimum requirements want a GTS250? That’s some very scalable graphics then coz those are old and almost obsolete GFX cards. So Not too bad really

Neither, because I noticed the serfs scurrying around like ants. It was horrible.

Like your mom telling you that you’re always a winner, no matter what?

Isn’t that what’s told to the “special” kids at sports events?

He is in the wrong country 😉

Pro-gaming in South Africa will not get you the house you always wanted. He probably realised that he needs to start with his studies and follow a boring life like the rest of us ;-)~

    boring specs, I smell a console port … 😉

4GB RAM has been an issue for years, dont know if a PC gamer still have 4GB RAM… 8GB minimum.

I call the i7 CPU requirement bullshit. Games are not CPU intensive anymore, it is all about the GPU.

i7 is a waste of money and I swear Intel telling companies to just say .. “Just put i7 there, the proof of payment is in the e-mail.. *whink* *whink* “

Maybe I’m out of it for a while but those specs don’t look too demanding for any serious PC gamer?? 4Gb ram is pretty much a standard in fact I’d be surprised if most gamers didn’t have more than an 8GB setup I stand to be corrected tho.

4GB is pretty much the bottom line in gaming PCs these days, 8GB becoming the standard.

On a related note, these endless jabs of console players against PC players and vice versa are getting tiresome. Is it not possible that people can just peacefully enjoy gaming on their preferred system?
