The-Wolf-Among-Us

It’s good to be Telltale Games right now. After hitting all the right chords with some nostalgic new takes on Sam & Max, as well as Monkey Island, the studio then received too damn much praise for their adaptation of The Walking Dead. And while a second season is on the way for that hit series, they’ll also be tackling some fairy tales soon, as they adapt Fables into a new set of games.

Based on the Vertigo comic book series created by Bill Willingham and illustrated by Steve Leialoha and Marc Buckingham, Fables is the story of how childhood fairy tales, from Snow White to Beauty and the Beast, have had to escape their mythical homeland after an invasion by The Adversary.

Stuck in our world, and forced to live amongst the “Mundies” in secret, the comic books detail their daily lives and the intrigue surrounding how such a society would operate. Such as Snow White’s sister Rose Red being caught up in yet another scheme with Jack from the beanstalk stories, or how the more beastly members of the fairy tale community are forced to live their days out on a secret farm.

It’s rather quite good, is what I’m saying. Also, Zoo City author Lauren Beukes is currently writing up a storm on the spin-off series, Fairest.

According to IGN, the Fables game will be titled The Wolf Among Us and will follow the exploits of Bigby Wolf, the big bad lupine who terrorised Red Riding Hood, in New York City as he interacts with the other Fables. Taking place before the main events of the comic book, the first episode will serve as a prequel that also includes appearances from Mr Toad and the Three Little Pigs.

“Developing The Wolf Among Us based on the Fables universe has allowed our studio to build upon all of the hallmarks of what makes our episodic series so engaging for players,” Telltale CEO Dan Connors said to IGN.

Through an evolution of our approach to choice and consequence, we can further explore the complexity of each and every iconic character in a universe rich with untold history from the darkest sides of the storybooks.

Looks like more of the same from Telltale then. Which should no doubt please plenty of folks.

I love the Fables series, wonder if the next one will be Jack of Fables possibly my favourite spin off. Even the Cindy one’s would make a good game.

Gr8 to be back man, I was skeptical a bit about both titles because they’ve been delayed for so long ( Duke flash back ) but I’ve heard good things about both so I’m going to get a night job so I can afford both! Now where’s did I put my drink?
