You know what’s great about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? You don’t need to feel old to admit that you love this particular franchise. What will make you feel old however, is professing your love for a certain era of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And that’s a feeling that has been around since 1983 when the idea for the Turtles first cropped up.
With the latest film arriving soon, that stars a new generation of Turtles who happen to look like genetically modified Jacob Zuma clones on steroids, the team at HalloweenCostume.com took a look at three decades worth of franchise mutations. Here it is:
Man, I have some great memories of the Turtles. Somewhere in a dusty photo album, my folks have a picture of me posing with four poorly-paid actors overheating in stuffed polyester Turtle costumes, while I stand there feeling disappointed that my hero (The Shredder) ain’t there. Right now, the franchise is in a good place. The current cartoon airing on Nicklelodeon is absolutely superb, the new film is most likely going to rake in some big bucks and the nostalgia factor is high.
All this, and I remember the day that I had to play with Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, because while artificially evolved creatures may be okay, it’s that damn ninja influence that makes religion unhappy. I really lived the CGI movie. Very dark and damn beautifully shot. Not sure about the next one… Will watch though. Apparently Megan Fox said at a panel that haters can “fuck off”. It’s class like that that has me excited for the movie…
