One day, humanity will take to the stars. And if cheap science fiction novels and movies have taught me anything, it’s that our future astronauts will be outfitted as astronutbusters, clad in high grade armour that will allow them to murder their way across the galaxy. That’s the kind of future that StarCarft 2 has shown me. And even though I’ll be dead before I can step into power-armour of that calibre, I’m hoping that I’ll be alive long enough to afford a small replica of that kickass gear.

Which should only take me several years to afford, at this rate. Sideshow Collectibles has a brand new StarCraft figure on the way, so open wide for Tychus Findlay, who is getting ready to join the fight to afford decent food this month:

While not even Jim Raynor can be certain of the truth behind his past, or just where his loyalties lie, one thing is for sure: Tychus Findlay always goes big. Always. Assembled from over 525 individually engineered components, Findlay gears up in Sideshow’s Sixth Scale Terran Space Marine armor with an incredible range of articulation, multiple light-up features, and a colorful array of unique decals that suit him just fine – including snarky quips, tally marks and a pin-up of Kyla Velassi. Known for his big ego and even bigger guns, there’s no job in the whole universe too dangerous for this outlaw when he’s got a couple of flash grenades and a light-up C-14 Impaler Gauss rifle with bayonet attachment and removable clip. A born survivor, Tychus bears his ‘New Folsom Prison blues’ with true grit thanks to two interchangeable portraits: one with a scathing scowl, and one simply enjoying one of the best cigars in the Koprulu sector.

This figure stands taller than the rest of the usual stuff from Sideshow, at a whopping 39.4cm. If you’ve ever laid eyes on the Jim Raynor figure which is around the same height, then you know just how damn big this guy really is. Findlay has an equally massive price tag attached to him: $524.99. He’ll be available to see in the plastic resin, from October to December later this year.

  1. Ugh. Tychus was lame. I’d rather a Jim Rayner or Zeratul large-scale figurine.

No man, Nova all the way! For some bizarre reason there does not currently appear to be any figurines of her
