I’ve got a new years resolution that I’m sticking to this year: No more collector’s editions. As much as I dig all the extra crap that comes with a game, it’s starting to take a hefty toll on my bank account. And once I have the content, I have no idea what to do with it. Hell, right now, I’m using my Borderlands chest to store packets of jelly beans. So here’s another special edition that is on the way, a rather unstealthy package for a stealthy game. Dammit, must hold firm to new years principles!
So what all do you get in the Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition? Bullet-point intel from IGN hints at the following;
- Splinter Cell: Blacklist game
- Splinter Cell: Echoes graphic novel
- A poster
- Billionaire’s yacht co-op map
- Upper Echelon pack that includes in-game items
- A radio-controlled miniature version of the Paladin airplane. (No really, you do.)
According to Ubisoft, the flying fortress that Sam Fisher and his team operate from is a “custom three-channel, dual-motor plane modeled after the in-game mobile headquarters.” Which means that if I ever get my hands on that plane, I will most likely use it to terrorise my dogs. The Paladin Edition for Splinter Cell Blacklist will be out for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and it’s only going to be for the Americas at this stage.
Which might be a good thing, because who has $169.99 (R1524) to throw down for such a superfluous item these days, huh? I’m not jealous at all, no sir…
