Yeah,that's right,you keep walking.I'm a badass wolf yo

The sequel to the cult classic game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 has been circling the drain for weeks, as it tormented fans as to whether or not the irradiated franchise would survive through its current financial crisis.

A few weeks ago, signs pointed towards the positive, with the game apparently being alive and kicking, but since then, the title has gone nuclear, with its development studio, GSC Game World, being scuppered, with the game now being officially cancelled as a result.

Wait, put down the knife! Not all hope is lost you see, as S.T.A.L.K.E.R will live on, in the form of a spiritual successor. And maybe even through a Bethesda swooping of IP purchasing!

A series of Facebook posts from the team over at GSC has revealed that numerous, now former, members have formed their own studio, by the name of Volstok Games. And their first game?

Why, it also happens to be a game with a heavy eastern bloc feel to it, by the name of Suvarium, that will focus on survivalist themes and shooting…stuff. Described as a MMO, freemium shooter, Suvarium is what happens when nature starts encroaching on the urban world, after a devastating nuclear war has subsided.

Meanwhile, GSC Boss and S.T.A.L.K.E.R creator revealed that one of the reasons why the game was dropped, was due to the development team being unable to secure the rights to continue work on the sequel, was possibly due to Bethesda scooping up the property in a buying frenzy.

“I realized that this concept is the STALKER will not be of interest to many players and decided to remove all the work”, Grigorovich said an allegedly dodgy version of Google Translator, through a Russian fan-site, so take this with an extra heavy pinch of salt.

Announcement will not be shown instead, all that the team managed to do without me. STALKER brand into the hands of Bethesda games. I’m leaving the game development – fed up with.

Ah S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, we hardly knew ye.
