You’re likely aware by now that the PS3 version of the imminent Mortal Kombat 9 will be getting God of War’s Kratos as an exclusive playable character. He’s the perfect fit, starring in a horribly violent game of his own. If you’re a multi-console owner waiting to see who might be available as an extra character before you pre-ordered, you might just be disappointed.

It seems earlier reports were true, and the Xbox 360 version isn’t getting an extra character at all. There go any hopes for Halo’s Master Chief, Gears of War’s Cole Train or Ryu from Ninja Gaiden. Don’t be too sad, Xbox 360 owners. You might not be getting your own exclusive bad-ass, but you will be getting a host of other exclusive options…

…like Avatar support! Yay!

According to a post on the Mortal Kombat forum Kami-dogu, the Xbox 360 version will be getting :

*Exclusive Mode: Puzzle Kombat – Features online play, leaderboards, and avatar support.
*Exclusive Arena: The Pit 360 – Remake of The Pit III from MK3
*King of the Hill mode will include avatar support.
*DLC Character “Lady in Red” will be available to Xbox Live users as a free download for a limited time after her release.
*Exclusive avatar gear will be available for purchase.

I don’t know how I feel about this if it’s true; Previous Puzzle Kombat mini games have actually ben tons of fun, and getting  “Lady in Red” for free is nice…but neither of them are Kratos. It’s also unlikely you’ll be able to actually fight using your Xbox Live avatar, as it’s against Microsoft guidelines. What do you think? Which version are you planning to get?
