Rockstar is removing ill-gotten GTA gains

One banker one baseball bat

Way back in October Rockstar all but admitted that they can’t fix the broken economy in Grand Theft Auto V and if you received money from hackers in game they couldn’t do anything about it. Well that’s changing now.

An author over on duuro.net is complaining that Rockstar has ruined his game of GTA V by removing the $55 million that he was randomly given last year.

Now to be fair to him I agree with what he’s saying, Rockstar has made earning money too difficult in an attempt to get you to pay real money for virtual cash. It’s a stupid decision by them and one that has ruined the game for a lot of people.

However the interesting part is that Rockstar is now removing the ill-gotten gains from many players in the game and the game’s economy is going to have to start standing on its own feet, it will now be interesting to see if it can keep the attention of gamers.

I’m more intrigued about how this relates so perfectly the real life now though. Pretty much all the traditional rich families on the planet received their original money by exploiting the rules, laws and people. Granted once they had enough they were standing up front petitioning for change and the freedom of all but they weren’t so eager to give the cash back.

Now all these rich people in GTA V already have all the weapons, houses and cars they want and will now rule over the servers with their illicitly acquired gear. So are people going to gang up against them or are you going to find a group of people protecting them to have that feeling of power?

Keep calm and kill a banker

Okay maybe I’m rambling here but it’s Friday and the current state of the world economy is annoying me. The bankers and financiers destroyed thousands of people’s lives and had to be saved using public funds. These same people are now making record profits and yet the people who lost their pensions haven’t been refunded or saved.

But raise this in polite company and you will always find people defending the banks and falling back on the old adage that bankers run economies. It’s garbage, we should run banks and the idea of hedging should be made illegal along with geared investing and stock trading where physical stocks don’t change hands.

Bah humbug… happy Friday.

I’m glad they’re fixing this… and money isn’t THAT hard to make with putting enough time into GTA Online… you earn more cash from jobs as you rank up, and survivals pay quite well if you’ve got a decent group.

I just find that the people who are at rank 100+ and have a lot of cash are a bit overpowered for the lower guys, as they come rampaging through with tanks or attack choppers, and no one can do anything about it, except try find another server without those douche bags.

PS. Spiller’s almost on a million bucks on GTA Online… and it’s all legitimately gained.

lmao! Yeah, but he doesn’t really let his son play GTA much… had that discussion with him previously.

He’s mostly doing survivals, cash truck grabs, and missions to rank up and cash in.

Give him a couple years and his son will be making all his in game cash for him… no matter what game it is 😛

The entire monetary based society wrong. Money simply does not work.

Humanity started as resource based until some fool decided that stupid things like gold made one richer than some dude who works hard at growing crops and can actually feed people.

That being said, I have no idea how this will affect the Rockstar servers when they remove so much money from circulation in the economy of the game.

Funny thing is in America a time based economy is starting to develop. This means that people are paying with their time and knowledge for things they want in stead of paying with money.

    Did someone say banks???

    ********RANT STARTS**********

Banks fucks us all in the ass and we can’t do a damn thing about it. Every day they make countless amounts off money while lubing us up with special deals or loyalty rewards. We are all slaves to the banking system.

Take buying a house. The only reason it takes 20 years is because of the interest rate. Now it doesn’t high around 9% or so until you start paying your bond. Take this guy I know. His bond is around R4200 but his interest that his paying is around R3200. That means only about R1000 goes to his house for the first couple of months.

Obviously the interest decreases over time as the twenty year sentence is carried out. That and the bank most likely wants you to default on your bond. They then keep all the money you payed plus the have a house to sell. It’s bullshit and most cant escape it .

If he don’t want to pay that much interest, then why not pay the bond off over a shorter period? No one is forcing him to pay it off over 20 years. But since this is a gaming site and not economics and Friday as well, I’ll leave it there.

Also in Germany most people rent in stead of buying. I don’t know why you are seen as a failure in SA if you don’t own property. But that’s a discussion for another day on another platform.

He paid that much rent so he thought why not just buy instead then it’s his. Also the shorter the period the larger the amount a month you would need to pay back.

Even a R100 per month will cut 1000’s on interest over 20 years.

It’s called amortoisation and it is an acceptable method of accounting for an amount over a period of time. It is used in all forms of business and not just banks. Google it to understand more. Knowledge is power.

That’s fine, doesn’t change the fact that you pay through the nose on interest. Not like the banks care anyway.

Yup, the interest rate links back to our inflation rate which links back to our economy. In other words our economy is screwed and unfortunately we going to have far more to worry about than interest rates.

This is actually really neat. Usually after a realize of a multiplayer game that contains an economy, they don’t try and fix it at all. It’s nice to see Rockstar cares enough to fix these kind of things even after release. Now where the hell is the next Guitar Hero? (They own Guitar Hero, right?)

I’m curious if they’re going to fix the levelling/ranking exploits… Was online on Friday night and had someone in my session that was rank 388… which is just stupid… you don’t get anything extra (except for maybe a couple health increases) past lvl 130… so that’s another thing they need to fix.
