Rift’s first expansion is not very far off, releasing on 13 November. There will be another beta event this weekend.

The beta event will start on Friday, 19 October (10 am PDT) and end on Wednesday, 24 October (8 am PDT). In this beta stress testing will take place and players will be able to explore and test the zones of Seratos, City Core, and Eastern Holdings. Players will also be able to test new dungeons, Hunt Rifts and Instant Adventures.

The expansion will bring a great many new features to the game, expanding the way you play, the world and the overall experience. For more info on the expansion, pre-order deals and beta registration, check out this link.

Many people might ask: “but is this game good?”, “what are the graphics like?” and other frequently asked questions and because I used to play the crap out of this game I can assure you, yes, it is good and the graphics are just amazing, it’s not the kind of graphics you’d get in games like World of Warcraft, it’s ten times better. The game is an excellent one to start with if you want to learn how MMO’s work and experience features that other MMO’s don’t have. It has a rich story and truly get’s the community joining in on world events with no fuss at all. Character customization is pretty rad, there’s a lot more options to make your character unique and creates a community where you don’t “run into yourself” every five seconds.

Is it better than Guild Wars 2?

Rift and Guild Wars 2 have similarities, but are two very different games. I’d say that Rift is more objective driven if you could put it that way, with a more conventional questing system. On a graphics level Rift and Guild Wars 2 have art styles that are worlds apart, but both have great graphics. Both games give players the opportunity to engage in gameplay together effortlessly.

So to be clear, Rift is not better and not worse than Guild Wars 2. It’s an entirely different experience.

If you’d like to try out Rift, you can play the first 20 levels for free with no time limit and no credit card required. You can make your account and download the game here.

So here’s the Rift: Storm Legion teaser, enjoy!
