Project Cars delayed into April

Project CARS

Project Cars may just be the racing game that everyone has been waiting for. It’s promising gorgeous graphics and design, plus realistic driving. While this community-based experience may be awesome, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to know for sure.

You can now get your vroom vroom action from 2 April, all so that the developer can make some final tweaks to the system. According to studio head, Ian Bell:

Moving a release date was not an easy decision to make, as we know our fans are eager to get their hands-on on Project CARS. But we know that these extra days will allow us to provide the best game experience that our fans deserve. We assure you the wait will be worth it when the game does arrive early April.

For those keeping track of delays, this is the third time the game has been pushed back, although it’s not a major delay this time. It was originally slated for a November 2014 release date before getting pushed back to 20 March. So this is a paltry two week delay which I guess will give them a bit more time for polish and bug squashing.

It’s not that serious a delay, and I suppose we’d all rather see them step on the brakes instead of release a game that doesn’t work at launch. But just for all of you who wonder about launch events or nice promos for games – this is why we can’t have nice things. When you delay a game, all the fun stuff that surrounds the launch also gets delayed, or even cancelled.

I must agree. I’m also really looking forward to this one. It’s been too long since there’s been a nice racing game (this side of full-sim games). Well, for me at least (since we don’t get Forza on pc)

I love Assetto Corsa, but because of its sim nature.

I cant bring myself to play this game.. The handling feels so broken, AI is too unrealistic and Physicals feel all PGR-ish! Even when my car is speeding at 240 KM/H a lower class car will fly pass me like im looking for parking!!!

Then to make it even worse, he takes a corner at the same speed and does it so perfectly that even the Sting would blush. What BS!

I’m a bit upset that Istanbul Park doesn’t really show up in games anymore. It is such a nice track, with decent blends of straights, sharp turns, chicanes and parabolas.

This game has already joined my list of games I really “wanted” to play… along with Driveclub.
Won’t lie I’m not hyped up on this anymore. Most racing games on PS4 are offputting already as I have to drop 5k on a decent steering wheel, pedals and shifter just to be able to play the game properly because my driving force pro isn’t supported :/

I don’t know man. I just play semi-sims with a controller. The proper simulators are the only games that will make me get out my steering wheel.

The thing is, I played this at rAge last year with the F430 thrustmaster at the Speed and Sound booth. I set one of the top 3 lap times on the Saturday too. This game WILL need a steering wheel to be enjoyed fully. Games like driveclub and the crew, sure play them with controllers, but I still prefer my wheel for racing any day of the week.
As for the reason im over this game before its even released, is because i get keen, it’s finally almost here then BAM! Delayed. Driveclub all over again. So I will wait for this to go second hand or on special somewhere before i splurge on it. Even then, im probably going PC version so at least my wheel works.

It’s always more fun with a wheel, you’re right.
I understand the frustration, but I think this one will be worth waiting for. DriveClub was a terrible disappointment.

Gran Turismo is still my game hey… Project cars looks pretty, no doubt, but the car list is kind of a put off for me. I’m not a huge fan of of touring cars or F1 while there are a number of super cars and such, it’s not blowing me away at the moment. In GT myself and two mates would stuff around for hours on the Nurburgring with an NSX, Supra, GT-R and an RX-7 doing laptimes/drifting/etc. I dont get that same vibe from ProCars yet.

I loved Gran Turismo myself. Not too much of a simulator, which makes it easier to just pick up and play. I like that. Haven’t played it with a wheel yet though, since my wheel is for my pc.

I’m a big fan of touring cars and DTM though. F1 too, actually. 🙂
But I agree, Gran Turismo has some great fun to be had. Myself and a friend on mine used to play those 8-hour to 24-hour races together, taking turns, each time challenging each other’s lap times.

Well, it’s not 100% realistic in terms of a simulator, even though they claim it to be one.

            But it’s still decent.
I’m not badmouthing it, I love GT, but it’s not really a sim like rFactor and those.

Oh no. There goes my massive downloads for another two weeks.
I would love to know what the total download for has been in the development of this game by the time its actually released. I just know everyday i switch my computer on i get a lovely Steam update for it, ranging between 200mb and 2 gig.
At least it shows they are working.

Thank goodness, gives some time to shake the cabin fever you get when playing Forza and Gran Turismo. Same game basically . Now I can build up a craving for a good racer.
