Since the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, we have all been waiting for the promised update that will not only add an online store to the system, but an internet browser too.

Your favorite err, “adult video websites” in 3D? More after the jump.

Okay I was just kidding, the browser isn’t going to be designed to work with 3D (as far as we are aware), but I’m sure that Geoff would get some serious use out of it if it did… not gonna say why.

The announcement was made by Nintendo of America, and a separate one also made by Nintendo Japan.

As for Europe and other regions like us in South Africa, we have not been informed but we have contacted Nintendo’s local folks at Core to request any additional information regarding the update in our region.

Nintendo also briefly lets us in on the new online store as well as the other basic details, here’s what they had to say:

“A new system update for the hand-held Nintendo 3DS system will be available in North America the evening of June 6 Pacific time. By downloading the free update via a wireless broadband Internet connection, Nintendo 3DS users can enjoy new features and enhancements, including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content.”

So the U.S release date is June 6, and it’s also been reported that Japan will see the update on June 7.

If all goes well, we should get it at the same time as everyone else. Keep your eyes out for an update soon.
