While most of you don’t seem all that enthused by the next new generation of consoles, both Microsoft and Sony don’t seem to be able to keep up with the incredible demand for mid-range pc’s in a box.
Microsoft’s Phil Harrison has said that the Xbox One’s launch will be “significantly bigger than 360," and that the company is doing what it can to keep up.
Though mum on exact figures, Harrison said that "pre-orders have been unprecedented, and the supply that we are bringing in to the market in addition to the pre-orders will mean that by far and away it’s our biggest launch ever."
As a result, it might be tricky to get hold of one One when it comes Christmas time.
"We’re working unbelievably hard to match demand," said Harrison. "I can only apologise in advance to anybody who is let down before Christmas, we don’t want to lose a sale, clearly, and we’ll work hard in our operations and our manufacturing supply chain and obviously with our retail partners to make sure we catch up as quickly as we can."
Retailers and analysts say that demand for both systems is exceeding supply.
”Retailers in our checks indicate there is consumer demand well in excess of supply, as evidenced by fast sell-outs of incremental unit allotments, such as at GameStop,” says Baird Analyst Colin Sebastian.
Gamestop has also said that it’s sold through its initial PlayStation 4 stock, and has a further 2.3 million next gen customers waiting for systems on its books.

What I’m saying is that spending that extra is pointless, without anything to play. I mean, maybe with the Xbone you have a fancy new way to watch TV, but there are already TV’s you can talk to. So, without any decent games, its a waste of money to get one now, besides bragging rights. Are bragging rights worth $100? No, no they’re not.

There are no “next-gen only” games worth forking out the cash for. Not one. Not yet. Come next year December, you can spend $450 and get a few next gen only games thrown in for free, worthwhile ones. This is my point, so if you bought it now, you get a game you can buy on your current console and get the same experience but with fewer shiny bits, or you can wait til next year, save some money, and get games you can’t get for your current console.

Not really because your going to spend $400 anyway next year, so its only $100 more in the long term, and 24 players vs 64 players in BF4 is not the same game, its a big difference. I hear what your saying but my point remains, for many people $100 is negligible, might as well be $20.

For first world countries I can agree with you, but in sunny SA it’s truly a waste of money. Most of us have to save for months to be able to afford the console. In USA, most people just swipe their credit cards. That’s how it is there, consumerism is at its worst. Black Friday should be a prime example of this. Even if I was living there though, I don’t understand how $100 can be so negligible to people. It makes no sense whatsoever, other than bragging rights. I just don’t see how a super expensive piece of hardware – which is worthless without games – has that much value to people, just to have one.

R600 lasts me a month in petrol. In SA we also don’t all drive 5l V18 cars that use about 10l per minute and need to be filled up once a day. First world problems. pfff. They can keep them.

i gotta say, only 2 out of 100 people on my ps4 list got a ps4 and the rest arent getting one but they all pretty much said theyw ould only like to get one just because there new and everyone else has one. i dont think anyone even wants one for what they can do. i mean for a small step down in graphics you can get a ps3 that does twice as more and plays the same game with a bit lower resolution graphics. but since its the talk everywhere we feel like we need to have it. like my ps4 when i heard the media stuff was gone out of it i knew i had really no use for it since i have 300 ps3 games. yet i felt the need to have it anyways because its new even though i know how fn stupid that is i got it anyways. we crave materialistic things we always want more. we see someone with new clothes then we need new clothes. someones has new shoes we get new shoes. new coat we get new coat. new games we get new games.
