How to solo Destiny’s Weekly Heroics again

Destiny solo Weekly Heroics exploit.jpg

Bungie thinks that they’re doing what their players want, but that couldn’t be further from the truth after Destiny’s last patch. The update removed the option to solo one of the games hardest recurring challenges, with tough players now having to partner up with random folk to take on Weekly Heroics. The good news is that there’s a workaround for now. The bad news is that it probably won’t be around for long.

Right now you’re forced to enter matchmaking when attempting to take on Weekly Heroic, which is great if you and a bunch of friends found it hard to pair up in the past. It’s not so great if you’re used to tacking them alone, as this option is no longer available. You can, however, use the system clock on your console to somehow bypass the need to join other random players, as described in the video below.

You won’t be able to keep your friend out of your game (if you’re anti-social like that) but at least you’re not forced to pair up with other players if yo don’t want to. That’s ultimately what Destiny players want right now, except that Bungie keeps implementing half measures. Yes, the community demanded matchmaking for Weekly strikes. But the same vocal group didn’t explicitly ask for solo strikes to be removed as a consequence.

Problem is, Bungie will probably find a way to get you back to playing by their rules in no time, so take advantage of this little trick until then. Note that if you’re on Xbox One, this won’t work at all. The console locks you out of the system clock if you’re connected to Xbox Live, so you’re out of luck on that front. But for the other three platforms, you should be fine for now.

If you’re still exploring Destiny’s limited galaxy, what would you like to see more of? Or do you just want Bungie to be less restrictive?

I’d like to see more of Destiny. More planets, more missions, more strikes, more weapons and armour. Phone me when all the DLC has been released. I have seen and done everything I wanted to. But until then it’s back to GTAV

Misleading first sentence, this blog is getting very sensationalist.. “Bungie thinks that they’re doing what their players want, but that couldn’t be further from the truth after Destiny’s last patch.”

Then the ‘limited’ comment. I reckon that people shouldn’t be writing / commenting on games when they have such a chip on their shoulder.

    What a waste of time.

Well no, their last patch affected me, also I don’t think anyone has a chip on their shoulder. The article is about using an exploit to do something Bungie patched out of the game thereby denying my access to a part of the game I used to play every week.

Sorry you feel that why, but I am certainly allowed to have my own view on how badly Bungie is dealing with Destiny and their loyal players (check out their last patch, for example http://www.lazygamer.net/general-news/bungie-wants-you-to-play-destiny-by-their-rules-only/

Destiny is already light on content, so a patch that then locks players out of weekly events is atrocious.

You are allowed to have your views yes, but you are also a ‘gaming magazine’ or whatever you want to call it, which is supposed to be a neutral party.

Weekly matchmaking was unnecessary for most, but I am sure there are many that welcome it. I found it pretty convenient this week and the other fixes were pretty great. Finally the heavy ammo was fixed, guns were nerfed and buffed. Mostly positive stuff.

As for content, that is always people’s go-to excuse – what does that have to do with anything in your above article or the latest patch? How does it lock people out of daily events? Only a handful of players actually enjoy soloing the Nightfall and often those are people that wouldn’t mind some matchmaking. Naturally a few people prefer being able to solo it but this is a social game, and is arguably always better as a full team.

Perhaps you should add to your articles that the opinions expressed in them are purely your own? Great.

But instead of giving them a choice, Bungie choses to make the decision for the countless players that prefer to attempt them solo? Sorry, no.

I’ve added context to why players are upset with Bungie over the patch, and rightly so. That is reporting, otherwise it would be a link to a video with no reason as to why it is important.

You’re clearly a fan of Destiny, and that’s perfectly fine. So many other thousands are. That does not excuse Bungie from the errors they make though, and doesn’t mean I cannot report on them in the negative light they deserve.

Rest assured, when they do something good, I don’t ignore it. Don’t confuse my stance for bias.

I am, and I am also going to state that I am getting a bit gatvol of it after 6 months, so don’t take me being a fan of the game for blind fandom.

I get angry and frustrated with them on a weekly basis for something stupid and then at the same time excited and intrigued by something else.

What I also agree on is that the matchmaking should have been made optional. What I disagree on is how this excludes anyone. Out of my entire Destiny crew, not a single one had more than a shrug about Weekly matchmaking. It’s just the weekly anyway, and one of two things will happen. You are match-made with a person who is helpful, which is great, or you get into a game with an AFK’er which makes no change to your original preference of wanting to solo.

Anyway, I am actually mixing in some Battlefield 4 with my Destiny again as it is getting a bit tiresome after a few months, so the DLC is sorely needed. If I didn’t have a crew to play with though then I probably wouldn’t bother but that is actually a very important point. Most Destiny players are in groups that do all the weekly content together. This change effects more people positively than negatively, IMO.

Anyway. Inform and entertain away, but as a Destiny player it is tiring to keep hearing non-Destiny players such as yourself constantly harp on about the negative aspects of something. It’s a game.

This site has always, always, since it began, been about the individual writer’s opinions. We are not neutral.

For the record, I agree with Alessandro on Destiny. I don’;t agree on Alessandro about very much else though. It’s got a lot of stuff to do sure, but all of what it has is recycled, so it is a little light on actual content.

I was thinking of getting this game on PS4 this weekend, but somehow the opinions I get from everyone vary greatly, and reviews follow a similar trend. I don’t have a lot of friends to play with online, so I’ll probably just follow my gut on the matter and get Shadow of Mordor instead, seeing as how I’m mostly #ForeverSP.

No real need to sway you. Destiny is obviously better if you have mates that are playing it to, and I know the South Africans all like adding each other on PSN from the Tower a bit so there are always people to play with. The community also had easy ways to find people to play with, either with matchmaking (as described above, which is directly there for people such as yourself who might not have an extensive PSN friends list yet), but hey, the dude who wrote the article above forgets to add anything positive to his article, so there’s that.

If you big single player fan, then Shadow of Mordor probably better bet. If you liked Borderlands and similar games I would have said Destiny is perfect for you; but that latest patch doesn’t help matters as now some things can’t be done alone (and who wants to fiddle with game clocks to make the game work for you).

Destiny’s only function is to serve as store credit so that I can buy other, hopefully more-enjoyable games. I doubt I’ll ever return to Destiny. Wait, maybe that was my destiny? Maybe that IS my destiny? NEVER TO SUFFER THROUGH DESTINY AGAIN?

Most players on my friends list are migrating to other games, so in a few months we’ll have the next DLC, which will swell the numbers (not by much since most have sold their copies). Destiny is dying, faster than anticipated by Bungie and Activision. Then we will see the Destiny 2 reveal… you know what.. screw it, off to GTA V online I go.

Not sure how being matched with random players is going to really ruin your run of the weekly. I feel it can only be an asset. Maybe they are AFK, then you can solo it like originally planned. Maybe they suck and keep dying, but hey, at least they are distracting a few enemies while you run past. Maybe you get careless and get too close to a light switch Psion; one of the randoms jumps in and heals you, only to be killed while you make a break for it. Or, perhaps you get into a lobby where everyone knows what they are doing and you only have to spent 1/3 of the time pumping lead into ol’ Valus.

I would like to see a few more planets open up. Also some more to the story and the history of all thats happened and going on now a days in the destiny universe. Maybe a trade station or a vendor who you could trade some of the none class stuff the encrypto guy gives ya sometimes…let gaurdians trade or sale extra stuff. Add another system like the weekly and heroic for more coins….maybe not 9 but say like 3 or 5 coins for a mission or event….just my thoughts

Adding matchmaking to weekly heroics is soooo useful. If someone wants a solo challenge then they should do the nightfall by themselves, the new raid or ANYTHING else. Fuck you for posting this stupid fucking garbage.
