Hey Feminist brigade why don’t you sort this guy out?

So the video game industry is still under attack by the militant feminist brigade and their white knight cavalry, and in my opinion most of it is just garbage. However, I stumbled across a video today that they may be interested in, which would also help us all.

The video is “Adults react to PewDiePie” and if you can watch the entire thing then I am absolutely horrified about you as a person. This is just the most annoying thing on the planet. But that’s not the issue really, the issue is that this guy seems to spend half the time talking about raping women, pigs, anything with an orifice and the other half just screaming and being a right pain in the ass.

He even goes on to talk about a bath full of period blood and other truly scary thoughts. Now instead of the PC brigade trashing on Ubisoft for having a male lead how about turning on YouTube and PewDiePie for this? I mean the guy reportedly made over $4 million last year for hurling abuse and squealing.

What’s more intriguing is that this guys channel is run by the YouTube network, Maker Studios, who were recently acquired by Disney. Disney ladies and gentleman are the corporate face behind this guys inane ramblings and anti-social videos. PewDiePie also uses his influence for several charities, such as donating cash to the World Wildlife Fund and raising cash for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Baffling.

Go find a horse and ride off into the sunset and fix this travesty. I have such a headache from listening to three and a half minutes of that stupid video.

Part of the proceeds should go towards the legal case and the rest to the charity that will be decided by a fair and equal process.

Fascinating! In varsity we did a similar study on comparative rat / human penis sizes. The rats won…. we’d have needed about 3 foot long penises to compete… hence rat overpopulation.

I misread that the first time. Missed the bit about comparative to size. But I am so putting rats with 3 foot long penises into a game if I ever get to develop that.

It makes that first run in with the mandatory rat in all RPGs a fight that you will need to win for your own mental well being.

It actually does. Youtube has got some funky ways of figuring out if something should count as a view or not, it’s not based on hits. This is why popular videos stop at 301+ views (as this becomes a significant number of views according to Youtube) and then once the first lot has been validated the number goes higher.

TL;DR A hit is not a view, they have algorithms in place to figure out if it was worth the viewer’s time to count as a view.

If you raise your child properly, which I’m sure you do, things like this shouldn’t phase them. You were obviously raised well enough to be able to make sensible decisions for yourself, and the world wasn’t censored then, either.

          • Jonah Cash

            June 19, 2014 at 15:52

Oh but when I grew up the world was censored!! And it was how it should be!! Youtube should have a switch I can tick that makes all video’s over a certain age not accessible without a password, if my child is clever enough to get the password then so be it. But at least I have a chance then!!

          • Sovereign

            June 20, 2014 at 00:12

The world has never been censored. You just didn’t look in the right places. Besides, sheltering someone, and never letting them make their own decisions is in no way helping. I have no idea how old your daughter is, so this advice could very well be premature, but if she never has the chance to test her character, how will she ever know if it is a good one?

If she is in fact too young, then a strong password on your entertainment devices is your responsibility. And don’t try to tell me that a child can crack them. Especially if you cycle them. Last I checked, every device has some form of parental controls.

Like I’ve said. It’s distasteful, no doubt at all. His content is horrible. But people condemn him like his some sort of criminal. We complain that the world is too sensitive . We jump on a far cry 4 article like insulin to a diabetic person. Yet those games DOES NOTHING for society ., Here, Pewds raises MILLIONS, but that means JACK…..C’mon, I’m not saying we should like him…but we should strive to see things from different angles too

Lol…i’m sorry. And look, Like I’ve said, it’s distasteful, but they’re words. An act. But to condemn the guy this way, because of an act, regardless of the content he produces, is not right. I bring up the Good he does, because well, he does a shit load of good, but the media treats this guy like some low life scum. I’m not saying we should agree with him or like him, but we jump at people that want to get offended by things like Far Cry 4 yet we turn into those very people we criticizing when it comes to this. No one will focus on the good, which is my main point. He says things as an act, the same way Jimmy Carr can make ugly jokes and still earn money.

It does show a lack of caring how his words affect others but that is not his responsibility. It’s everyone’s own personal duty to avoid what they don’t want to hear. If a feminist doesn’t like rape jokes, then don’t listen to them. I happen to enjoy horrific jokes so I would very much like to continue being able to watch videos on youtube that contain material like that. If you don’t like it, don’t watch the videos. . easy right?

Welcome to the very new age. The internet is very young and very scary. But there seems to be no moderation because nobody knows how to moderate such a large beast.

I am terrified of the new generation of kids. They all have cell phones, GTAV and Facebook accounts before their first pubic hair.

We can only see how this generation pan out 10 or 20 years from now. Expect more school shootings.

If I was subject to those beheading videos from Iraq when I was 10 I would be scared for life. Hell, I spent 5 years in the British Army and recieved 2 medals in Bosnia and that shot still stresses me out.

The whole Ubisoft-saga just left me shaking my head. I consider myself a fairly progressive lad (bar a few idiosyncrasies), but it was such an unnecessary and clearly contrived bit of sensationalist crap. Granted, it’s time for another female protagonist but forcing this sort of PC nonsense on developers and the masses is actually extremely counter-productive. You don’t change opinions about people (gender, race, sexual orientation, religion etc.) by rushing in, kicking down the doors and holding people hostage. That’s the last thing you do.

You challenge those views at the appropriate times, not merely for a quick burst of traffic on your kotaku/jezebel blog. I was actually very angry at kotaku, because regardless of Ubisoft’s reputation for bait-and-switching when it comes to graphics etc., they’re one of the few publishers that actually create games that showcases diversity. In the white-male-square-jawed (usually American) gaming world, that’s rare!

For instance, BBC Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has issued an apology on Twitter after footage which wasn’t broadcast of him appearing to use a racist word was given to a tabloid newspaper. That footage of him, where he may or may no thave said the word “nigga” in it, hadnever even made it to the final cut of that episode, some dude found the cut footage from archives and posted it on twitter. suffice to say, England went ape shit. Ridiculous.

I find some of his videos really funny… Sometimes it is just fun letting your hair down and watching someone being an idiot.

That said, not all his videos involve him screaming his head off. His video series review of Journey for example:

    The Stanley parable as well:

The use of graphic metaphors isn’t unique to PewDiePie. Anyone who has played COD or DOTA will know that this is the type of language that a large subset of gamers use, thus he is simply making his videos appeal to that segment.

If you are somehow offended by the language that he is using, then you should also be offended by some of the content, eg: violence. You can’t claim to be offended by some naughty language when you are not offended by Americans gunning down enemies in a dusty part of the world.

Your jealousy is palpable. How much he makes is irrelevant. Are you offended by what he says? Too bad. That’s it. Your opinion doesn’t matter to anyone other than you and those that pander to the same insecurities.

    Gaven, this is bullsh!t.

I’m sorry I don’t get it. You post 1 compilation video of a person saying the word ‘rape’ multiple times and suddenly he’s an anti feminist? Give me a day and I could edit one with some other well known comedian saying some other ‘bad’ word. And that is what he is, a comedian. Now if he was inciting people to go out and rape or murder that would be a different story.

I’ve watched a few of his ‘lets play’ videos and vlogs and personally found him hilarious, agreed its maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but shouting bad words, especially under the context of comedy should not be enough to label someone.

Fair enough maybe I misunderstood but then what is the point? The fact that he said ‘rape’ and ‘a bath fool of period blood’ and you find it distasteful? I really am missing the point then.

If he’s a comedian, then why isn’t he funny? That’s kind of a pre-requisite for comedians. Or does comedian mean a different thing to you?

Yes that is a requirement of being funny you are right but I’d also like to point out that humor is subjective, what you find funny I might not.

You’re right. People these days do find pre-pubescent crap, hate speech, and various other socially unacceptable things funny. At least on the internet.

I dislike this guy purely because he is filthy and annoying. I do not see the humour, nor can I understand who would find hearing someone scream like a maniac and try to rape a pig funny at all. But maybe that’s just me being over sensitive? 😉

Look, this video was made by a person who does not like Pewdiepie and who created a “greatest hits” of some of the worse things that he has said. If you actually go and watch any of his latest stuff, it is NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY as bad as it is portrayed here. If you don’t believe me, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2LvD3uiJCc

I could just as easily go around JHB and take pictures of every homeless person and state “OMG EVERYONE IN JHB IS A HOBO” if I only wanted to present one side of the argument.

Yes, he does make inappropriate jokes, but they are just that, Jokes.

Lastly, all of this footage is from his much older stuff, he is not at all as raucous as he was then.

Indeed, people are way too quick to jump to such extreme conclusions based one pretty heavily edited and manipulated example.

Its also fascinating to see that this is one of the most heavily commented articles that is on the front page at the moment. Clearly hit a nerve here, and its scary too see how quick people are to jump on the band wagon.

I almost forgot why I stopped reading blogs/opinion sites.
It always comes down to people complaining about something. Or people complaining about people complaining. Then it just become some sort of rants from all sides…

It come downs to, if you don’t fit into this perfect little box which “society” creates for you. Then you don’t belong to be a person.

Its as if into days age where we “allow” all different kinds of people and personalities, but we don’t. Your allowed to have an opinion, as long as its the same as everybody else. We can’t let things be. If you like something, then fine. If you don’t, then that’s fine to.

There is a reason a large number of games/music/movies are becoming so bland. Its save. If you don’t offend somebody and you walk lightly then you will be fine and the majority will love you. Because those are the only people that matter. The people who don’t allow any other way of think. And we are coming to a point where, if there is nothing to complain about, then we will look till we fine something.

And I’m just sad now, that I fall in a category that I don’t like. The “people complaining about people complaining” 🙁

HEY!!! Did anyone of you guys take the time to subscribe to pewdiepie’s channel. It is a gaming channel that by the way has the most subscribers on youtube. His way of reviewing is unique and it has set a benchmark for people to follow. This whole video was taken out of context, and for you journalists to make an assumption based on a video that is not even one of pewdiepie’s own but a video made from another person, shows me that you cannot be trusted as reviewers of anything. How can I trust you from now on? Do yourself a favour and go and whatch a few of pewdiepie’s videos and you’ll understand that you made a huge mistake by brandishing him.

I am a fan, to be perfectly honest, and have lightly followed his videos for quite some time. Now that we have that out of the way….

Sorry you guys don’t like it. Honestly when every single clip is taken out of context, and is just him screaming, you’re going to have a bad impression. At the same time, it isn’t fair to single this guy out. If anyone remembers Shane Dawson, he constantly relied on sexual shock value, and made a ton of money off of it.

I’m sure if you are casually on here reading articles, you are not new to the internet. With that in mind, you should know that the internet is not always for the faint of heart. And being owned by Disney doesn’t really mean anything. They went out of their way to spend $4 billion on a franchise that has a good supply of murder.
Basically what I’m trying to impress upon you, is that if you’re the type that has a clinched butthole every time the word rape is uttered, Pewdiepie is NOT for you, but for the types that he is for, please don’t try to ruin it. I promise that just because I laugh about these things does not mean that I make light of them. I would just rather laugh, than be sad and depressed over the reality that these things seriously happen, and nothing is done about them.
I’m sure Felix is the same way. He makes light of this stuff, but he recently helped raise $1 million in charities. 630,000 of which was for “Save The Children”. Which is arguably one of the most important charities around. And that even speaks volumes for his fans. The ones who actually gave a good portion of that money.

So it’s fine if you find him annoying, but shutting him down, is almost as bad as taking all of that money back. So please just don’t watch him if you’re offended. No hate intended.

I think Pewdiepie is safe from feminist rage because he actually apologised when viewers complained about his rape jokes. He also turned off his comments recently in a bid to distance himself from his terrible fan base. Not sure if that’s really the most responsible move (he could just tell them to not be assholes? considering they all look up to him) but whatever. At least he is not hosting youtube vileness any more.
