Grab Fallout 1-2 and Tactics for free in the GOG Winter Sale

gog

Oh the weather outside is delightful, but living in South Africa is so insightful and since we’ve got no place to go, let my gaming rig glow!

You think Steam is the only game in town when it comes to cutthroat gaming prices? Ha, I scoff to the max at your lack of sales knowledge. Retro game ticklers Good Old Games are having another one of their winter sales this year, and to mark off the occasion, they’re tossing a few free games towards consumers, DRM-free baby.

The games on offer? Fallout 1 and 2, as well as Fallout Tactics are available, gratis. You’ve got a day left to grab those games, and I recommend doing so because even if you are keen on buying them some time later, GOG won’t have the rights to them by the end of this year.

Besides the free Fallout games, there’s also the rest of the GOG catalogue that are currently getting price slashed. That’s over 600 games, and includes classics such as System Shock 2 for $5, Zoe’s indie favourite Papers Please for a satanic $6.66, cult hit Faster Than Light for $5 and RPG classic Planescape Torment for $5 as well.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

GOG will also have daily deals in place, where several games will get marked down by 75%, with the community also voting on one of two daily game bundles that will see an 80% price cut. In addition to all that, each registered user will get to choose one of three mystery boxes once per day based on various genres, that will also be deeply discounted or if you’re lucky, free.

The sale ends December 29. And it’s been damn good so far.

  1. If you game on a PC & don’t take them up on this you are a stupid, stupid person.

I think this sale will be more evil than Steam’s last one.

The only 2 things that kind of limit me is 1.) I already own the whole world on my Steam account and 2.) Since really spending money on a PC I am not really able to handle shitty graphics anymore. Which is sad, because so many of these games are pure awesome (The old games that is)

On the other hand since this is a article about gog.com I am allowed to start talking about Witcher 3 again and about how I might pay full price for it. Which is a REALLY big thing for me…

I will preorder Witcher 3. The only game I will. I haven’t done that for over a year.

What I did, especially with GOG, is finally buy many of the games that I pirated all those years ago.

Thought that about other developers before. And I haven’t gotten through the Witcher series yet, so not too bothered with a pre-order for it.

I am pretty sure Witcher 1 and 2 will show up for real cheap on Gog.com sale. Definitely worth it. 10/10 would recommend

            December 13, 2013 at 10:11

Rather get it on Steam though if I have the choice. I’m not rushed here.

Well to be honest when you buy it on Gog all the money goes straight to them, but I get the whole Steam thing. I rarely buy anything anywhere else since I like watching my library grow. Also cloud saves and all that is pretty cool.

            December 13, 2013 at 10:14

Exactly why I prefer it. Steam is pretty much my games library. When I feel like playing something I open up Steam and browse my games.

Mine too. Just passed 200 games. So I pretty much do the same thing, but with CD Projekt RED it felt right to buy it on gog.com. Also it was probably the cheapest there xD

            Me too
Just got my DOTA yesterday. But now don’t feel like it.
Steam just needs to sort out the new update to the app. The damn thing is slow as hell and crashes all the time.

            December 13, 2013 at 10:20

When Witcher 2 was available for preorder it was the cheapest on Steam, they only announced the GOG release about a month later, otherwise I would have bought it there :/ But a few months later they gave everyone who bought it on Steam a GOG code too. Good guy CDPR!

          • UltimateNinjaPandaDudeGuy

            December 13, 2013 at 10:27

The fact that they have no DRM and just give the DLC for free makes it worth the pre-order money IMO.

I vote with my wallet and CDPR has my vote.

            December 13, 2013 at 10:31

No-DRM is the reason I’ve bought so many from them instead of Steam.

Good to see there are others like me… I do it with Steam games too. Wait till the game is priced at a price I am prepared to pay and then buy it.

Playing Witcher 2 again and I killed the Kayran on normal difficulty last night! Oh yeah! Last time I couldn’t even kill the damn queens on normal. Finished the game on EASY… I felt so dirty. As if I had this secret I had to tell people.

Yeah… I don’t even think there is a proper justifications pasts “I didn’t do any of the tutorials and literally did not know how to parry the first time I played it.”

Really enjoying it this time around though.

Must admit the fighting needs a bit more work for Witcher 3. In 2 it is a bit slugish.

I have the Enhanced Edition and to be honest I am used to the fighting now after about 2-3 hours of game play, but I think they need to improve it and made it more fluid in 3. Still can’t wait for it though…

start off with hacking, maintenance and research. only need 1 research..

I never use psi powers (maybe I should try)
some point into standard weapons. just enough into heavy weapons for the grenade launcher. some in modify add more to hacking, dont bother with repair as I get repair tools. Agility for speed, strength, a bit into endurance for health. varies a bit each time i played through.
