Grab a Wii U for under a R1000 – Again!

Jean-Luc-Picard-Full-of-win

Did you miss out on grabbing a Wii U this week at the Toys R Us sale, where those consoles went for under a 1000 Randelas? Well good news! The fates are on your side, because tomorrow morning CNA will also be selling off their Wii Us, for R950! Good luck, and remember when the crowds get intense with bargain fever, go for the eyes and throat.

Don't stop now.... you're having a good time

Just phoned a CNA, the lady didnt even know what a Wii U is…..and when I asked to speak to someone else the other person said that they only have the game for PS3…..so now Im confused….Hahaha

    • Skyblue

Had the same experience when phoning around. Only the larger mall stores actually stock consoles and when someone actually answers the phone, they are about as helpful as a cock flavoured lollipop.

Is that more or less helpful as the indicators on a Merc?

I had to go to the cna in gateway twice to get a straight answer regarding this. it seems the small amount of stock that they have is reserved for staff…..put my name on a list eventually, doubt anything will come of it. Either way i shall be outside their doors at 6am on the morrow

    • Major Commodore 64 Darryn B

I’d complain to management about that. The customers are supposed to come first, and by no means should the staff have precedence over them.

      • Admiral Chief Commander

We all know you have experience in coming first :P

        • ElimiNathan

          We do ?

          • Admiral Chief Commander

Yar, its common knowledge, like for instance, the sun rising tomorrow, having to poop, and that periodically you lose consciousness on a bed

      • Argentil

This is usually the case. Incredible Connection staff do the same thing. I remember with the DJ Hero sale where they were practically giving the set away for like R250, there were no units that same morning. Reserved for staff. I don’t think these companies care if the staff or customer get them. As long as they’re gone.

  • DarthofZA

Gateway, Pavilion and Musgrave have all received tiny quantities. It seems that you have to put your name on a waiting list, and the names on the list at the top get preference. They all already have long lists and those people at the top will get it. It doesn’t matter who is at the store first. CNA sucks compared to Toys R Us and Incredible Connection!

  • FoFoZA

how can they reserve the wii-u. it is supposed to be a sale, so its first come first served. CNA Sucks balls.

  • Skyblue

Nintendo SA must be taking one hell of a beating atm to offer the console at these prices. I’m assuming they need to stimulate sales as their consoles, games and accessories have been gathering dust in stores since release.

    • Argentil

It’s ludicrous. Do these people not know that the value of these consoles will triple after E3? I’m not Nintendo fanboy, but Nintendo are going to bring it at E3. Surely the retailers themselves must be shoveling off their stock after poor sales forecasts? And then, once one store has done it, it’s a chain knee-jerk reaction.

  • Major Commodore 64 Darryn B

Quick heads up folks, as this might be worth a try: If you have the pamphlet for the CNA sale, take it with you to Game. See if they can price match for you. No guarantee that this will work, but it could pay off at least.

    • Andre116

Strongly doubt it. As far as I know that policy of Game does not include products on special.

Out of interest, I once found a better price on a product and went to Game with it. The price they then gave me was the cheaper store’s price, less 10% of what the difference in price was. So, well done to Game on following through with their policy.

    • Admiral Chief Commander

I wonder if anyone did what you suggested, and if they managed to succeed

    • DarthofZA

This beat the price specifically excludes “Sales, Opening Specials and Special Deals”

  • Admiral Chief Commander

LOL, actually went past CNA to enquire, and the lady said that they are getting stock tomorrow.

    • StackimPackim

Hi Admiral, which CNA was this?

      • Admiral Chief Commander

Kolennade, but I suspect the lady did not have her facts straight

        • StackimPackim

          Thanks for the reply!

          • Admiral Chief Commander

NP, lemme know if you get your hands on one!

            Good luck

  • fred

We went to a store and demanded reserved units , they eventually brought out 4 . I mean , one doos can phone around and reserve a unit at each store in his region , do a leisure sunday drive and pick up all units , and then sell them on Gumtree. It is first come .. first serve CNFA.

I managed to get the standard white console which wasn’t a bad deal but I did have to haggle away.

  • TiMsTeR1033

I mean its cool wii u is under 1000 but you still gotta get extra contoll and nunchuck to enjoy games like super mario bros u with a friend unless u got from previous wii. and games are not exactly cramming the shelves either.

    • Argentil

If it were any other console-maker, I would agree with you, however: This is Nintendo. Expect the Wiiu to have a lot of first-party game reveals after E3.

      • TiMsTeR1033

I hope your right, as i want to get a Wii U for mario games lol

  • BeatzByChrisBrown

I was lucky enough to get mine with the Incredible connection sale. So far I’m having fun with the console. Nintendoland is quite nice.

    Pros
    - System updates and game downloads while system is off.
    - Don’t need TV to browse eStore or to play some games. (My wife likes this as I’m not interrupting 7de laan)
    - Graphics and animations are very nice, even when playing Nintendoland. Really unique.
    - Web browser is cool. (Don’t need TV to browse web)
    - Unique experiences you can’t get on Playstation, Xbox or PC
    - Local multiplayer

    Cons
    - No DVD playback
    - Loading up the main console dashboard can be slow.
    - The battery of the tablet doesn’t last too long. (The included cradle is nice though)
    - Have to sign up to UK eStore as the SA eStore is shit. Prices are inflated on UK eStore.
