Gaming’s best mothers

AC 2

I’ve had a rather intense few days in my homeland. This coincided with Mother’s Day and got me thinking about mothers in gaming. I think I know the best mother in gaming, but I’m prepared for all of you to tell me I’m wrong.

First up, the honourable mentions. Pokemon mothers are always great contenders. They raise their son/daughters until the ripe old age of 10 when they are old enough to head out into the world to abuse and capture wild animals to use in fights. The contact with those mothers is brief, but supportive.

Similarly, Chrono’s mother in Chrono Trigger is supportive and loving and also willing to let her son wander off through time and space. Alternatively, I have some weird affection for the Rachni Queen from Mass Effect – does she count as a mother in a sense?

The best mother in gaming? Maria Auditore da Firenze. Ezio’s mom from Assassin’s Creed II, she does everything she can for her family. After overcoming a state of shock, she eventually goes on to help Claudia run the brothel in Rome, letting her son have the pick of the courtesans for his activities around town. Always a fierce defender of her family and the ladies who she took on as her own, Maria gets my award for gaming’s best mother.

Hm, does Samus count, though? Mother Brain and all…

The Boss from MGS:3 (Ocelots mom),Sindel and the real troopers, COD players moms. They take more verbal abuse than being married to Tom Cruise.

Lol… COD moms. 🙂 But yeah, they take a ton of abuse from their offspring… But that is often a reflection on their parenting skills too (eg. would you let your 10 year old play COD? I wouldn’t purely because of the online community)… Just saying.

Picking the best mother in gaming and she helps run a brothel? You trying to put the Feminazi in a state of shock?

        Mine too 😀
Then I assumed that any mother who could raise him, and survive, must be a good mother. 😉

Well, I think the lady who dropped the Petri dish in the toxic waste at the science lab is technically considered his mom.

Morrigan was pretty rad as a mom, too… but i wouldn’t classify her as a good mother 😛
