Neverwinter

Free-to-play MMO Neverwinter: Dungeons & Dragons is launching its first expansion this August; this too will be free and include unicorns.

The expansion or “module” Fury of the Feywild will allow players to explore the enchanted woods of Sharandar as Sun and Moon Elves. If you’re not familiar with the game, Neverwinter is not just a standard MMO. Instead of just the usual business; it has taken ARPG features and incorporated it onto the MMORPG genre. The game takes players into the Dungeons & Dragons lore in a way that newcomers to Dungeons & Dragons and die hard fans can enjoy. Neverwinter also gives players the opportunity to create user generated content and share it with the community via its Foundry.

Cryptic Studios announced that the expansion for Neverwinter, will be released on 22 August 2013.

“We’re excited to announce the release date of our first free expansion – what we and D&D fans call a Module – for Neverwinter.” said Cryptic Studios CEO, Jack Emmert. “Come August 22, we’re releasing our first expansion. That’s less than two months from launch; pretty cool. New and exciting content is at the heart of making and expanding a persistent world. Our goal is to deliver engaging and constant updates to our players so that they always have something new to discover in game. Fury of the Feywild is the first of many Modules to come in Neverwinter.”

And as with the game itself, there will be packs available for purchase. These packs add extra virtual goods to make the game even more awesome for its players. Here they are, detailed below.

I just started playing it and as my first MMO, I’m enjoying it somewhat. Going to give Rift a go as well. I’m too cheapskate to pay for my MMOs.
