eSports Wrap-up: SC2, CS: GO and Dota 2 SECS

Cup finals, the StarCraft 2 World champion has been crowned, GamersXtreme wants to bring eSports to the Tuks campus and it’s a Geoff vs. Darryn halo 4 face-off this weekend. Also, don’t forget about that awesome Dota 2 SECS.

Bravado set for Ready.Set.GO! finals

The Do Gaming League Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Cup quarter finals took place last week, immediately seeing Bravado (bvd) and Super Serial Gamers [SSG] jumping into the semi’s this weekend after their victories. Bravado then successfully secured their spot in the finals.

StarCraft 2 World Champion crowned

After a gruelling weekend of StarCraft 2 carnage, Leesak ‘PartinG’ won the Battle.net World Championship (BWC) by beating fellow Korean Hyunwoo ‘Creator’ Jang.

Korea dominated the BWC this weekend, with seven of their best taking on some of the finest players the world has to offer. At the end it was an all Korean final settling an old score making StarCraft 2 history. PartinG and Creator faced off earlier this year at the WCS South Korea Nationals where Creator had a 2:1 victory over PartinG, sending him home with a third place only.

Blizzard World Champs moving to BlizzCon

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has confirmed that the Blizzard (Battle.net) World Championship held at Shangia this past weekend will move to BlizzCon next year.

Speaking at the BWC this weekend, where PartinG was crowned the StarCraft 2 World Champion, Morhaime announced that there will be a BlizzCon 2013 and that the BWC will be held there, no date has been confirmed yet. BlizzCon 2012 was cancelled due to Blizzard’s busy schedule trying to get Diablo III, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm out the door.

GamersXtreme wants to bring eSports to Tuks

GamersXtreme has launched an initiative to establish a Gaming Club/Community at theUniversityofPretoriathat takes eSports seriously.

With the backing of the MSSA and your support they are aiming to make this a reality. For Tuks to support the initiative, they will need a big enough support base and is asking the community to do so by supporting their Facebook page.

Halo 4 tourney Round 2 this weekend!

Lone wolves and clans alike will engage in the second round of epic battle this weekend, deciding who will proceed to the quarter finals. This round will see a Geoff versus Darryn faceoff, place your bets!

c7e joins Bravado in the CS:GO finals

c7e has won their match against Xpertz@Total.Chaos ([xTc]) in the Do Gaming Ready.Set.GO! Cup and will face off against Bravado in the finals.

The official match page has been updated by Do Gaming. -c7e/CSGO took [xTc]CSGO 16 – 7 on Tuscan and 16 – 9 on Inferno. Things seem to be unfolding exactly the way it was predicted, I call hax and sorcery!

Have great SECS with Polarfluke and DOTA 2

Polarfluke has announced their Sunday Evening Cup Series (SECS) for Dota 2 and will kick it off this weekend.

Starting 25 November at 5pm (GMT +2) the goal of the cup series according to the official Polarfluke site is to provide “a scheduled competitive practice opportunity for all South African teams who wish to participate.” The cup series has no monetary prize yet, but it seems Matt “fluKe” Merks, founder of Polarfluke has some plans to make an effort for prizes.

Well, that’s it. Go and have an awesome weekend now!
