Steam

If you’ve had a look at the Steam summer sale and somehow managed to keep your wallet safe – then I’ve got bad news for you. Well, I suppose it’s good news if you’re looking for cheap games – but terrible if you were hoping to pass through the Steam Sale unscathed. The current flash sales – which you need to jump the hell on ASAP – are too good to pass up.

First up is Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 at 50% off. quite unusual for such a new release to get such a major discount – but even better is that you can hit up Rockstar Hit Collection; containing Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City,  and Max Payne 3 for 58% off.  that’s a lot of game for just over R400.

Next up is  The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at 50% off. That’s at least 80 hours of (mostly patched by now) game for just R250. Or buy the publisher bundle, including BRINK, BRINK: Doom/Psycho Combo Pack, BRINK: Fallout/SpecOps Combo Pack, BRINK: Agents of Change, Fallout: New Vegas, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, Fallout New Vegas: Dead Money, Fallout New Vegas: Honest Hearts, Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues , Fallout New Vegas: Lonesome Road™, Fallout New Vegas: Gun Runners’ Arsenal, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , Fallout New Vegas: Courier’s Stash for $50.

TellTale’s rather excellent take on The Walking Dead is available for 40% off, but if you opt for the Telltale Collection, which is being offered at a 60% discount, you’ll get Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack, Puzzle Agent, Back to the Future: The Game, Puzzle Agent 2, Jurassic Park: The Game and The Walking Dead. Ignore Jurassic Park; it’s rubbish – but the Walking Dead firmly re-establishes Telltale as masters of the adventure game genre.

Saving the best for last is THQ’s ridiculous Saint’s Row sale. You can get Saint’s Row: the Third – one of last year’s best games, including all of its DLC for a mind-blowing 91% off. That means the game, in its entirety, with all the additional content for about R110. Even more insane is the THQ publisher bundle, which throws in Saint’s Row: The Third, along with  S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Titan Quest, Titan Quest – Immortal Throne, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II Chaos Rising, Metro 2033, Darksiders, Homefront, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine,  Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution, Dawn of War II: Retribution – The Last Standalone and Nexuiz. Those fifteen games will cost you less than the entry price for a single new game. You can have all of that for just R417.

There’s even more on sale though – so have a gander at Steam’s storefront. You have about 8 hours left to capitalise though – so hurry!

Who says gaming’s expensive?
