Ah, Kickstarter. Sooner or later, that service is going to devour itself, when 419 scammers and other, less honourable persons start posting scam after scam on that site. Until then, it’s still a relatively safe haven for prospective game developers, as well as a decent measuring stick, to see what kind of games people would actually shell out cash for.
One such game that was looking for funding, is a reboot of the infamous Carmegeddon. It’ll be running fans over soon, as it reached the $400 000 funding goal recently.
While it will most likely be banned harder than Scientology in Germany, Carmegeddon: Reincarnation is a go, as the target for funding was reached, ten days before the Kickstarter pledge drive was due to wrap up.
Described as being in “iterative development” by its studio, Stainless Games, Reincarnation will also be a completely moddable title according to Joystiq, as it will include a “suite of modding tools is going to be really comprehensive and encourage extensive messing about with the game.”
Looks like we’re going to be playing some controversy-brewing racing games next year, and I for one, couldn’t be happier.
