Last year, one of my favorite gaming experiences was Mark of the Ninja. It was so well polished with some of the best stealth gaming you can get. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China was inspired by that, and we will see more along the same lines.
Assassin’s Creed Unity creative director Alex Amancio told Eurogamer that they were inspired by the side-scrolling idea of Mark of the Ninja and thought it could be a nice way to look at their over universes:
One thing that’s really cool is that every one of the chapters of this game will be in the art style representative of that era in time. This is why Shao Jun’s game is like Chinese ink – very black and red.
Once we have other characters and timeframes the art style will completely change to match that specific character.
Amancio wouldn’t say how many future entries would be released, and if (like Chronicles: China) they would be released as DLC or as standalone downloadable games. However, there were hints that fan favorite characters might appear, and that a game set in Ancient Egypt might use iconic papyrus scroll visuals.
I have been hoping for a female, asian assassin for a long time, so I’m already very pleased that we get to play as Shao Jun. It’s a reason for me to get the season pass for Assassin’s Creed Unity. There is so much to play with, I’m very excited to see that these various universes are being explored, even when Ubisoft might not see enough content in them for a full Assassin’s Creed game.
Which universes would you like to see explored? Are there certain time periods that lend themselves to a side-scrolling assassination game? Or will you just happily wait and see what the next announcements might hold?

Was just reading around the web on AC Unity and the game is full of social nonsense, with the app and certain chests only openable though AC initiates etc
I was going to wait for a sale but honestly I think I’m put off on the AC series now, seriously miss those singleplayer AC days.

Salvation was fine for me. Not great, but I didn’t hate it.
3 was terrible, because they completely lost the plot with going overboard on explosions and ignoring the lore already laid down.
