| | Then and now – Gears of War and other ramblings | Gavin Mannion - December 29th, 2008 | Is it just me or are you also noticing that Gears 2 isn’t getting the same devotion as the original Gears? I am not talking purely about playtime here either, the popular opinion seems to be swaying slowly against Gears 2 and in my opinion it is entirely Epic’s fault. The matchmaking in Gears 2 sucks and they are ... [»] |

| Microsoft declares 2008 an excellent year for XBLA | Karl Thomson - December 23rd, 2008 | Â And they are right. Very very right, in fact. Lets go through the stats posted at the Gamerscore Blog: 1.25 BILLION Gamerscore points, and almost 100 Million achievements unlocked. Those figures are insane, but rightly so. This year has been amazing for XBLA with massive releases like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Braid and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2.According to Microsoft, most of the success can ... | GTA IV Xbox vs PC | Gavin Mannion - December 22nd, 2008 | There have been a lot of complaints about the technical and software requirements for GTA IV on PC but once you get it all up and running is it really worth it? Well after watching this video then I would say that if you were looking for the best graphics then the PC version is by far your best option. Though I have to admit that I don’t remember the 360 version being so blue… I guess you just get used to it. |

| Crackdown 2: Maybe not on it’s way. | Karl Thomson - December 21st, 2008 | Colin MacDonald of Realtime Worlds effectively killed the rumour that Ruffian was developing Crackdown 2.In a message sent to Videogamer247, he stated that there were ongoing discussions between Microsoft and RTW regarding the development of the sequel to Crackdown. However, nothing is set in stone given RTW are very busy with All-Points Bulletin and another project that has yet to be formally announced. So it would make sense for some of the old Crackdown team members to work on it, right?Wrong.Straight ... [»] |

| Crackdown 2 is on it’s way | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | I thought I would get the obvious headline out of the way now even though we have nothing confirmed. We know it's going to come but we just don't know when or who is going to make it. The latest rumour is that a new studio (created by the Crackdown guys) called Ruffians are working on Crackdown 2.At the moment the only thing confirmed is that the ex Realworld employees have created a new studio and ... | Best Uwe Boll Movie Ever – Contra | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | We all know and love Uwe Boll and his awful movies, it's odd he now has a cult following purely because of how terrible his movies actually are.Well this is easily a contender for best Uwe Boll movie but the only problem is that he didn't actually produce it himself. However with a bit of money I am sure the guys over at Black20 will be happy to claim he ... [»] |

| Deadly Creatures Developer Video | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | I don't like spiders at all and I have no interest in being a spider in a game... well that is what I thought until I saw this trailer. It looks really cool and the art style looks really impressive, especially for a Wii title.Though I have to admit I am really glad I wasn't one of the developers on this title |

| Duke Nukem Forever – New Image | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | There has been a new image released for Duke Nukem Forever with a major difference to all previous images. The Duke himeslf is not present, have 3D Realms finally found the problem to the long delayed game and fired Duke Nukem? I highly doubt it... It's so sad, this game cannot live up to the expectations no matter how good it is, over a decade in development and it will just ... | Riddick expansion brings 11 hours gameplay – that’s not an expansion | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | We have heard previously that the new Riddick: Dark Athena is really just an episodic expansion and not really a full sequel in it’s own right. Well this expansion has 11 hours of game play which is around 2 Call of Duty titles, that’s more than just an expansion to me. An Atari spokesperson had this to say “It's a mature experience which has memorable moments that will have you playing through time and time again. Dark Athena is ... [»] |

| Mirror’s Edge Demo now includes Time Trial | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | The sales of Mirror’s Edge have been pretty pathetic for such a cool title and to counter this EA have decided to unlock the Time Trial mode of the demo to all comers. I personally think Mirror’s Edge is a great game so if you haven’t given it a try yet then spoil yourself this weekend and download that ... [»] |

| PlayStation Home Upgraded – Voice Chat Removed… WTF? | Gavin Mannion - December 19th, 2008 | Oh wow, PlayStation Home is becoming a perfect example of how to get it all wrong all the time. First they think it’s a great idea to replicate the annoying fact that we need to wait for things in real life by making us queue to play an arcade game in the system. But that seems to have been accepted by the die hard fans as being realistic so Sony then decided to take it a step further and force you to download gigatons of data to enjoy home fully. Well it seems like some people are now complaining about the obvious lag issues that this has caused and Sony have come up with a great solution. They have now patched Home and removed the voice chat ability. Yes removed it, possibly the best point about Home was that you could gather together and discuss your gaming goodness and they went and took it away. ... [»] |

| Sony Defence Force Returns | Gavin Mannion - December 18th, 2008 | You have to love the SDF, they have mastered the amazing ability of disposing of all logic and purely existing on fanboyism alone. Most All of what they write is complete nonsense but it can be entertaining nonsense like the video above.I have to agree with them here though, I just don’t get the fascination with Halo that the Americans have. It’s entirely unhealthy. |
