The Dawn of Blu-Ray is Upon Us – Reviewed – Blu-Ray

 - March 31st, 2008
By Philip Dunkley What we have decided to do is the following. Since Blu-Ray has now won the format war, we approached Ster Kinekor to give us a bit of an insight on what to expect, and is the experience worth the extra money to spend. Well, they happily obliged ... [»]

Prototype’s Multiplayer Gets Cut

 - March 31st, 2008
Well this is disappointing, Prototype was one of my must have games and it really does look absolutely fantastic, however it is no longer going to be a multi-player or co-op game at all. According to Radical's Tim Bennison, the prototype team wouldn't "be able to pull it off with the same level of quality and polish that we're aiming for with ... [»]

Guitar Hero III : Aerosmith Video

 - March 31st, 2008
I am most probably going to get into trouble here but I am confused about the point of this upcoming Aerosmith game. Now I love Guitar Hero and am also a fan of Aerosmith so you think it would suit me perfectly. But I am not excited, what is the point of having Xbox Live or PSN if the episodic content isn't released through that? While I like the new graphics and the new songs I just can't see enough reason right now to buy another Guitar Hero game. I can't even finish ... [»]

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue – Reviewed

 - March 31st, 2008
By Etienne Vlok When deciding to buy Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, the decision shouldn’t be hard for the long time GT enthusiast – go out and buy it. It contains everything that made previous entries great, spruced up for the next generation, and is a solid racing game that will provide a lot of enjoyment until the next ‘proper’ Gran Turismo title ... Dualshock 3 – Video Review

 - March 31st, 2008
I spotted this dual shock 3 review and it reminded me of something I should have posted about previously. I recently had a chat with the ladies over at SterKinekor and at some time during the conversation the local release date of the Dualshock 3 controller came up. I have been expecting a May/June release and to be honest I didn't ever enquire before as I could see no reason why we wouldn't be getting this time slot. Well apparently I should have asked before as we are not getting it in May ... [»]

Rockband releasing imminently

 - March 31st, 2008
Apparently some people have started to worry that we were actually not going to be getting an EU (Others) PAL RockBand release. I have absolutely no idea how this came about and how any self respecting journalist or fanboy could believe it but there you have it. Anyway if you are a part of the doubting crowd then hopefully this will ease your worries. There is an upcoming music festival in Shoredith, London that is being sponsored by none other than Rockband and interested parties including Xbox 360. What is noticeable by it's absence though is a Playstation logo, so has Microsoft just one-upped their competition or is this a sign that ... [»]

2008 Year of the PS3 shooters

 - March 31st, 2008
One of the biggest complaints levelled at the Xbox 360 is that it doesn't have enough depth in games and concentrates solely on first person shooters and the odd sports games. Well after taking a look at this expected blockbusters from both camps it looks like that criticism is going to have to take a back seat for a while. Now unless ... [»]

Alone in the Dark – CG Trailer

 - March 30th, 2008
As you are all aware I cannot wait for this game to arrive and I am petrified it will let me down. So far it all looks fantastic though. Here is another trailer (kindly spotted by Fox1 Jonathan) which isn't really up my alley as I prefer true gameplay to CG but it's still cool. The idea of combining objects to wipe out the enemy is apparent again and this is possibly why I like this game so much.... Jumper: Griffin’s Story – Reviewed

I posted an article a few weeks back listing the top 10 worst Xbox 360 games, well imagine my suprise when the next batch of review games came in and contained two out of the top ten... Microsoft has a heart? Who would have guessed

 - March 28th, 2008
So some news did the rounds a few months/weeks back about someone creating an Unreal Tournament mod for the PS3 that makes the character look like Master Chief. If your wondering the mod is the one on the left. Well this mod has taken off in quite a big way and I have to admit that I did expect Microsoft or Bungie to clamp down on it, however it seems that they are more than happy with it. Apparently it's ... [»]

The American sales are in – 22 March 2008

 - March 28th, 2008
So earlier this week we saw that the European price cut didn't do what was expected and the Xbox 360 lost out to the PS3 by 6 000 units... The latest Japanese sales also came in and the PS3 added an extra 13 000 unit lead over the 360 in that area. (15 680 - 2 580) So all eyes turned to America to see what happened. The Wii took this area as well with sales of 228,750 units... Add that to their 113,291 EU sales and 52,938 ... [»]

Bully: Scholarship Edition – Part Review – Xbox 360

 - March 28th, 2008
This is being titles as a Part Review as I am not far enough in this game to give it a fair review but I thought I would just have to tell you about it. Bully was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2006 and was mainly remembered for the possibility of a homosexual kiss in the game, which in hindsight was a dumb thing for Rockstar to have included as it over shadowed the brilliance of this game. It has been upgraded now to the Xbox 360 and Wii consoles and has a whole whack of new content added. So this arrived on my desk late last week and I wasn't overly concerned about it, I expected yet another shock game that had a very thin plot and dodgy gameplay. How wrong I was. If you are into sandbox games (GTA, Crackdown) then this is an absolute must have title for your collection, ... [»]

The R1000 PS3 Game: Gran Turismo 5

 - March 28th, 2008
Paul Ellis over at Tech Consumer has raised a very valid point about the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 game. Seeing that the Prologue, which is just a glorified demo, is retailing for +- R350 and the actual real game is going to retail for an expected R699 we are actually seeing the first PS3 game ever to break the R1000 mark. What is even more disturbing is that this game was meant to be a virtual launch title and the 'real' GT5 is now only expected in the early stages of 2009... That's a 30 month delay from a first party developer... That is a worrying sign. So should we as consumers allow developers who can't get their titles out to rather just sell us gimped versions early ... [»]

NAG loses some key staff

 - March 27th, 2008
I heard this little rumour from a friend the other day but was sworn to secrecy. However now that it has been published I am allowed to talk... In what is honestly quite a suprise from my side it has been announced that James Francis is leaving NAG after many many years of loyal service and so is the hardware writer Toby Hudson. No reasons have yet been given for the sudden departures but if James answers the email I will let you know... (Toby is going back to the USA) I know a lot of people have ill feelings towards NAG but you have to admit they have done more for local gaming than any other publication and for that we must thank them. My one pearl of wisdom for them though... stop insulting your readers, seriously we don't like it or find it amusing. ... [»]
