PS3 Greener than the 360 Elite

 - August 31st, 2007
Of all the 360 SKUs, the Elite is supposed to be the quietest (is that even a word?), most energy efficent version. You'd think that it would compare favourably with the PS3 when it came to energy consumption. Well, no not really. The PS3, Xbox360 Elite and Wii had their energy usage levels measured and the results were as follows. In order of most energy efficient to least: 1. Wii - 17 watts 2. PS3 - 171 watts 2. 360 Elite - 194 watts Sheesh, I almost thought that the Wii actually generated power for a minute there. :D Source: ps3news.ca Smoking

Could Warner Bros. Support HD DVD Next?

 - August 30th, 2007
It seems that Blu-Ray has become the local whipping boy in the format wars. TVPredictions.com has an article talking about how this holiday season may actually be the end of the war and Blu-Ray will lose. Now it has been a long time since anyone predicted Blu-Ray losing this format war but they do make some very good arguments. It does not look as though there will be any 1.1 compliant Blu-Ray player available in 2007. While it is possible that the PS3 can be upgraded to 1.1 specs via a firmware upgrade, that has not been confirmed by Sony. With this being the case, one must wonder why Disney is going ahead ...
